Gen Z Protest: Clarification on Peaceful Movement and Public Property Vandalism
Today's peaceful protest, organized by Nepal's Generation Z, was conducted with a clear vision: to demand accountability, transparency, and an end to corruption. Our movement was and remains non-violent and rooted in the principles of peaceful civic engagement.
We want to strongly clarify that:
1. We, the Gen Z protesters, have retrieved from the protest sites and are actively helping and volunteering on the ground to reduce risks and responsibly manage the situation in order to safeguard the safety of fellow citizens and protect public property.
2. We are not associated with any individuals or groups involved in vandalism or destruction of public property.
3. Our movement does not welcome opportunists or political party members attempting to hijack or misrepresent our cause. We did not need them before, and we do not need them now.
4. We have no relation to the breach of Nakhu Jail, and we, Gen Z, have no connection to Rabi Lamichhane.
5. Our Gen Z participants are also injured due to invasions and interference from other parties and external agitators.
6. Looking ahead, we believe Nepal's future leadership must be free from entrenched political party affiliations, fully independent, and selected on the basis of competence, integrity, and qualifications.
7. We demand a transparent and stable government that works in the interest of the people and not for the benefit of corrupt individuals or political elites.
8. We are also looking for additional volunteers both on call and on site to join our efforts in safeguarding the people and the property of our democratic nation.
Furthermore, we want to make it clear that we have no further protests scheduled from tomorrow onward. Our intent has never been to disrupt daily life or to allow others to misuse our peaceful initiative.
This movement belongs solely to the youth of Nepal - independent, determined, and committed to peaceful change.
In light of escalating risks created by external agitators, we humbly request the National Security Forces (Nepal Police, APF, Nepal Army) to carefully assess the situation and, if necessary, implement curfews in suitable areas to protect citizens, maintain peace, and prevent further damage to public property.
Our goal remains firm: a proper government with qualified, non-corrupt leaders. We will continue to stand for a better future through unity, integrity, and peaceful action.
