She always knows how to make me wait.

That is part of her power. Not only the cuffs in her hand, not only the certainty that she will decide when they close around my wrists, but the pause she places before them. So she lingers there above me, watching, letting the silence tighten what the metal soon will. And I love her for that too — for understanding that sometimes the sweetest part is not the instant of surrender itself, but the suspended breath just before it becomes real.
