His name was Pradyumn Thakur.

He was 7 years old. Class 2 at Ryan International School in Gurugram, Haryana.

His father dropped him at the school gate at 7:55 am on September 8, 2017. At 8:08 am, he was found outside a washroom with his throat slit. He was rushed to hospital and declared dead on arrival.

The school did not call the police. His parents did.

Haryana Police arrived three and a half hours later.

They noticed blood stains on bus conductor Ashok Kumar. The same clothes he wore while carrying a bleeding 7 year old child to a car.

On September 10, the Police Commissioner held a press conference. He declared Ashok Kumar was the killer. He said Ashok had tried to sexually assault Pradyumn and murdered him.

The Chief Minister of Haryana congratulated the police for solving the case.

The Bar Association of Gurugram passed a resolution refusing to let any lawyer defend Ashok Kumar. The Supreme Court later disciplined them for this.

Pradyumn’s mother said from day one she believed Ashok was being framed.

CBI took over the case.

They found no forensic evidence against Ashok Kumar. No evidence of sexual assault. The gardener who was first at the scene said he saw no blood on Ashok before Ashok helped carry the child. The claimed semen sample did not exist. [Source: CBI chargesheet 2018]

In November 2017, CBI arrested the real accused. A 16 year old student at the same school. CBI said he confessed to killing Pradyumn to get his exams cancelled.

He chose his victim randomly.

In January 2021, CBI charged four Gurugram Police officers with framing Ashok Kumar. Falsifying documents. Torture. Criminal conspiracy. [Source: CBI chargesheet January 2021]

Those four officers have not been convicted.

The Police Commissioner who declared Ashok guilty on television faced no consequences. The Chief Minister who congratulated police faced no consequences.

Pradyumn’s family is still waiting for justice for their son.

लोकसभा खासदारांची संख्या राज्यांच्या लोकसंख्येच्या प्रमाणात केली जाण्याच्या वेळी अमेरिकेचा दाखला !

अमेरिकेतील हाऊस ऑफ रिप्रेसेन्टेटिव्ह मध्ये ५४५ लोकप्रतिनिधी जातात. ज्या राज्याची लोकसंख्या जास्त त्या राज्यातून लोकसंख्येच्या प्रमाणात..

पण अमेरिकेतील वरिष्ठ सभागृह सिनेट मध्ये एकूण १०० सिनेटर्स असतात जे प्रत्येक राज्यातून दोन याप्रमाणे त्या देशातील ५० राज्ये निवडून देतात. ( दर दोन वर्षांनी एक तृतीयांश या पद्धतीने). मोठ्या लोकसंख्येचा राज्यांना दोन आणि सर्वात कमी लोकसंख्येच्या राज्यांना देखील दोनच.

मोठ्या लोकसंख्येच्या राज्यांनी कनिष्ठ सभागृहात बहुमताच्या जोरावर पास केलेली, पण आपल्या हिताला बाधा आणू शकणारी विधेयके लहान राज्ये सेनेट मध्ये अडकवू शकतात.

भारताची आर्थिक धोरणे कशी बाजाराधीष्टीत असली पाहिजेत हे पटवून देताना नेहमी अमेरिकेचे दाखले देणारे अमेरिकेतील गैरसोयीच्या असणाऱ्या राजकीय प्रणालीचा दाखला कधीच देणार नाहीत

बाकी त्यांचे पूर्ण भाषण या विधेयकांना विरोध म्हणजे महिला आरक्षणाला विरोध आहे अशा थाटात होते

ज्या विरोधी पक्षांनी देशात महिला आरक्षण विधेयक लागू केले स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांमध्ये, ज्यांनी देशाला पहिल्या महिला पंतप्रधान, महिला राष्ट्रपती दिल्या त्यांनाही जर महिला विरोध की कीमत चुकानी पडेगी असा इशारा देण्याचे धारिष्ट्य त्यांच्यात येत असेल तर कमाल आहे..

आता आव्हान विरोधकांना आहे... डी लिमिटेशन मागचे षडयंत्र त्यांना या नँरेटीव ला काउंटर करून पोहोचवता येईल?

कित्ती म्हणजे किती मोठा विरोधाभास आहे बघा..

महिलांना आम्ही काही देत नाही आहोत..हा तर त्यांचा हक्क आहे असं पंतप्रधान मोदी आपल्या भाषणात म्हणाले.

पण हा हक्क देताना असलेल्या जागांमध्ये तो वाटा द्यायची धमक नाहीय... त्यासाठी स्वतंत्र वाढ. आणि पुन्हा त्यांचेच खासदार भाषणात म्हणतात की पुरुष खासदारांच्या जागांवर अतिक्रमण होणार नाही... महिला आरक्षण अतिक्रमण??

ज्ञानेश कुमार हे निष्पक्ष नसून सत्ताधाऱ्यांच्या बाजूने काम करत असल्याचा आरोप आधीपासून आहे. पण आता एक अतिशय गंभीर बाब समोर आली आहे

सर्व #IAS अधिकाऱ्यांना दरवर्षी त्यांच्या संपत्तीची माहिती (#IPR – Immovable Property Returns) जाहीर करावी लागते. ही माहिती सार्वजनिक असते आणि DoPT च्या वेबसाइटवर उपलब्ध असते.

ज्ञानेश कुमार जेव्हा IAS अधिकारी होते, तेव्हा त्यांनी सादर केलेली IPR नोंद शोधण्याचा प्रयत्न केला.

साधारणपणे ही माहिती वेबसाइटवर सहज उपलब्ध असते. इतर सर्व IAS/IPS अधिकाऱ्यांची माहिती आजही उपलब्ध आहे.

पण आश्चर्य म्हणजे – 2024 मध्ये निवडणूक आयोगात नियुक्ती आणि 2025 मध्ये CEC झाल्यानंतर त्यांच्या सर्व जुन्या IPR नोंदी अचानक वेबसाइटवरून गायब झाल्या!

ही माहिती सार्वजनिक असताना, DoPT कडे मागितल्यावर मोदी सरकारने ती देण्यास नकार दिला – कारण सांगितलं “ही खाजगी माहिती आहे”!

जी माहिती वर्षानुवर्षे सार्वजनिक होती, ती अचानक “खाजगी” कशी झाली?
इतर सर्व अधिकाऱ्यांची माहिती उपलब्ध असताना, फक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार यांचीच का लपवली जात आहे?
निवडणूक लढवणाऱ्या प्रत्येक उमेदवाराला संपत्ती जाहीर करावी लागते, न्यायाधीशही करतात – मग मुख्य निवडणूक आयुक्तांच्या संपत्तीबाबत गुप्तता का?

सरकार नेमकं काय लपवत आहे?

आणि कोणाच्या संरक्षणासाठी ही माहिती हटवली गेली?

लोकशाहीत पारदर्शकता हीच खरी ताकद आहे – मग ही भीती कशाची?
