PhD in Physiology // Research area: Autism, Sex Differences, Neurophysiology, Behavioural Endocrinology. Department of Physiology. Bursa Uludag University
#AutismAwareness
Autism is not;
- a disease to be cured
- an anomaly to be fixed
- linear
- one that fits them all
- male only
- children only
- caused by refrigerator mums or vaccines
- a trend.
Autism is a beautiful difference to be accepted.

📣 Bursa Uludağ University are joining us for #PhysiologyWeek by hosting their event “Find Your Potential” focusing on the importance of mindfulness and its physiological reflections. Amazing!
~Physiology Week 2025~
This year, we brought physiology into the breath, into awareness.
We paused for a moment in our corridor; to slow down, notice, and feel.
Feeling well is also a part of homeostasis.

If you’re:
- already including SABV to your research,
- interested of including but don’t know how,
- curious of sex differences&similarities
- a clinician, stake-holder or a policy maker that feels the need of including sex

Meet the team of EU-SABV!
This is a group of researchers with a special interest of including sex as a biological variable into their work.
For the next 4 years, this team will work to enhance current SABV policy in preclinical research!

Yesterday was the first official meeting to kick-start the action. We gathered in Brussels, networked and made some key decisions.
As our administrative officer says…HAPPY BIRTHDAY EU-SABV! 🩷

Oh you do have my attention @IBNSconnect 🤭
I love this part of the science 🩷
IBNS is a truly wonderful scientific community — supportive, inspiring, and full of wit!

First day of my Erasmus visit at @NenckiInstitute started quite strong! Within the second hour of my arrival, I got to meet Prof Harold Varmus- 1989 Physiology/Medicine Nobel prize laureate 🤩
Is this how life is in Nencki? Or am I in a dream? Cant lie..look forward to day 2!
What’s behind our new study? 🧪
Using a rat model of autism, we showed sex-specific shifts in leptin, ghrelin & orexin!
Findings highlight the need for sex-specific metabolic research in autism while suggesting a shared mechanism with eating disorders. @ExpPhysiol#SABV#autism
Thrilled to share that our paper “Evaluation of metabolism-related molecules in a rat model of autism spectrum disorders” is now published in @ExpPhysiol 🎉
Huge thanks to my co-authors and mentors as well as the journal for their great support!!

Until now, being in a COST Action felt like something almost unreal. With the leadership training, I finally saw its reality and know what I need to do. On Oct 22, I’ll be back in Brussels for the kick off meeting of our action. Can’t wait to have the whole team together 🩶 #COST
We had several exercises with one of them being what comes to our minds when we think about an inspirational leader..? My leader was @JaricIvana ! Thank you Dr Jaric for creating opportunities for early career researchers like myself. @COSTprogramme
Had an amazing time at #BSNBradford2025
As I focus more on neuroendocrinology now..this was a great start point to see what is going on and meet fellow colleagues! @bsneuroendo
My favorite kinds of scientists are
1) Crazy enough to publish a paper where you give ecstasy to octopuses and study their social behavior
2) Detail-oriented enough to specify in the figure that 30 minutes is exactly 1800 seconds

Was supposed to rest after my dissertation. I checked my calendar, only to realise that Aug is the only time to submit 4 project proposals& 1 report before I leave for a conference, concert& workshop in early Sept and a month long research visit in late Sept 🥲 #autism#postdoc
@JaricIvana Thank you Dr Jaric! 🩷
I will most definitely take your advice once im done with the paperwork 🧘♀️ Look forward to seeing you in October ✈️
