@naturetrektours Some of the fabulous finds this weekend on the two 1-day fungus forays in Thetford Forest. Crossbills 'chupping' overhead and Redwings streaming by, alongside furry Fox Moth caterpillars also starred. Join me in the next 2 weeks?
Very unusually we have a couple of places still available on my fungus foray days in Thetford Forest. If you can join me on 26 Oct or 2 Nov, message @naturetrektours to book your place - and enjoy the glorious autumn colours with me.
Lots of Grass of Parnassus on my two @naturetrektours Suffolk Valley Fens days this weekend and other wonderful sightings too! The Fen Raft Spiders co-operated and Common Lizards abounded. Willow Emeralds were just hanging about :)
Another v. successful @naturetrektours#GoSlow in the Brecks and Fens. Great group and all the usual targets: Scarce Emerald Damsel, Fen Raft Spider, Stone Curlew & Nightjar in the bag, some wonderful 'others' too - the superb views of a hunting Long-eared Owl were a real treat!
Wonderful Breckland colours. So easy to focus on all the amazing wildlife we've been finding, and we mustn't miss the true beauty of this little-known part of the UK @naturetrektours#GoSlow
Productive 1/2hr at the fen, with Nightingale singing lustily, Grasshopper Warbler & Water Rails noisy. Dac. ochroleuca coming on in a very wet fen, looking great for my @naturetrektours days and Go Slow week
@maryewalker24@BC_Norfolk Yes, I had 33 of 11 in my little spot just over the border. Nice Small Brindled Beauty :) It was 14oC when I checked the trap at 10pm last night...
The recent cold weather (& being stuck at home with Covid!) inspired me to put on paper a pencil painting of a Buzzard in front of a misty Dorset scene from just before Christmas. Enjoying painting again SO much

Another super bird ID weekend @HowHillTrust 90 species found, with some corkers (incl. Crane, Short-eared Owl, GWEgret) and some amazing mammals too - an Otter and prolonged views of a Weasel. Why not come and join me for future courses this year?
My latest painting inspired by sightings while leading the phenomenal @naturetrektours Whales & Dolphins of Madeira tour. Fancy joining me next year and seeing Bulwer's Petrel and Man O' War amongst loads of other amazing ocean wildlife? https://t.co/I8qlnxUgMf
That's what its all about! Fly Agaric being photobombed by a nugget of pony poo carrying the mega rare Nail Fungus! The first of four @Naturetrek 1-day trips completed today. Lovely group and super finds, but slightly damp to say the least!
Just a couple of the 77 bird species we found on our Bird ID weekend at the wonderful @HowHillTrust Why not join me for another amazing bird-filled weekend 11-14 Jan next year? Great birds, food & company, who knows what we might find! Book here: https://t.co/2hNKvEJAvQ
@maryewalker24@BC_Norfolk Still no big blue thing here, but something VERY large fluttered around us when we checked the trap at 10. Fingers firmly crossed! Had the Red Underwing though...
@maryewalker24@BC_Norfolk I am so hoping for my first since starting regular trapping - was the species that got me into moths, when one was the first out when experiencing trapping for the 1st time on a school trip!
Great spider activity at @suffolkwildlife Redgrave & Lopham Fen. 3 Fen Rafts, a self-found Wasp Spider, Araneus marmoreus var pyramidatus and several others :) Is this handsome beast Marpissa radiata? @BritishSpiders
