15 August 2023: CM @BhagwantMann promised that by the next Independence Day, “Drug” would be finished in Punjab.
Today is 15 August 2026.
Sadly, the promise is nowhere close to reality.
Drugs are still being openly sold, and Punjab’s youth continue to be poisoned.
Spoke in the Punjab Legislative Assembly on the issue of restrictions on @ArvindKejriwal's social media account.
I reminded him that his own party's government in Punjab has filed cyber complaints to target the social media accounts of opposition leaders, including mine.
Even more troubling, official @AAPPunjab handle have used copyright strikes against journalists and web channels in Punjab, raising serious concerns about freedom of expression.
Freedom of Speech must be defended consistently-not selectively.
📍Punjab Legislative Assembly, Chandigarh
Raised an important issue concerning Jalandhar Cantt during Zero Hour in the Punjab legislative assembly.
A large civilian population lives alongside the Army in Jalandhar Cantt. In the name of security, public roads are frequently closed and civilians face inconvenience during movement. A peripheral road project, which could have addressed this issue, remains stalled.
I urge @PbGovtIndia to take up this matter with the Army through the Coordination Committee and ensure a practical solution that safeguards both national security and the convenience of local residents.
Just as sections of the Godi media have been accused of acting as the BJP's mouthpiece, independent social media influencers should not become the AAP's mouthpiece.
@dhruv_rathee, you present national issues with facts and research. But before drawing conclusions about Punjab, I invite you to visit the state and examine the ground reality of the #PaperLeak, the education system, and the facts firsthand.
#Punjab did not achieve its top ranking because of the @AamAadmiParty government. Punjab secured 1st rank in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 as a result of the #education policies implemented by the previous @INCPunjab government.
Punjab's school enrollment is falling sharply, yet @AamAadmiParty Govt continues to spend more effort on advertisements than addressing the real crisis.
From 5.00 lakh to 2.75 lakh students in Class X and 3.90 lakh to 2.26 lakh in Class XII-these numbers demand accountability, not publicity.
Is this Punjab's "Sikhya Kranti"? @BhagwantMann #Punjab #Education
For three consecutive days, the same Punjab Bill has remained on the Assembly agenda, yet it is repeatedly deferred while resolutions centred on @ArvindKejriwal's politics take priority.
The Punjab Legislative Assembly should debate Punjab's issues-not serve as a platform for political agendas. #PunjabVidhanSabha #Punjab
Government brought a Resolution on Gen-G, but in Punjab, even Gen-Alpha has been forced to protest.
When young school children have to take to the streets demanding teachers and basic education, why is the @BhagwantMann govt silent?

After being forced to bow before the farmers, the BJP used its B-team, the AAP, to vilify them.
Now, after being forced to bow before students, the same B-team is shifting the entire blame for Punjab’s pharmacist #PaperLeak scandal onto students instead of fixing ministerial accountability.
CM @BhagwantMann is deliberately confusing the very definition of a paper leak. @msisodia keeps blaming the students, while instead of seeking the resignation of Medical Education Minister @AAPbalbir, AAP govt is shielding him.
Addressed a press conference today on two deeply concerning issues affecting Punjab.
Raised serious questions over the Paper Leak in the Baba Farid University recruitment examination for 454 Pharmacist posts, and also highlighted the tragic death of Khalsa College, Amritsar, Professor Dr. Rupinder Singh, along with the concerns raised in the letter written by his colleague, Prof. Dr. Rachhpal Singh.
Punjab deserves transparency, accountability, and justice in both matters.
The letter written by Khalsa College Amritsar professor Dr. Rachpal Singh is deeply concerning. He has stated that professors were repeatedly harassed for pursuing legal remedies to protect their rights. Following this alleged harassment, Professor Dr. Rupinder Singh died by suicide, while Dr. Rachpal Singh has now also expressed serious concerns about his own mental health. The silence of the Higher Education Department and the concerned Minister is deeply troubling.
This serious matter demands a high-level, impartial inquiry headed by a serving or retired High Court judge, followed by strict action in accordance with the law wherever responsibility is established.
I sincerely urge Professor Dr. Rachpal Singh to remain strong. You are in the city of the Gurus and connected to the great legacy of Khalsa College. Do not allow despair to overcome you. Your courage to fight for justice for your colleague is commendable-and that courage is your greatest strength.
Punjab’s #HigherEducation has been systematically weakened for decades: professor vacancies in government colleges remain unfilled, existing faculty are subjected to pressure, and the education system is increasingly handed over to politically influential private institutions.
@AamAadmiParty and @BJP4India are pursuing policies that weaken Punjab’s higher education. On one hand, private universities continue to receive approvals and their owners are rewarded with Rajya Sabha seats; on the other, the recruitment of 1,158 government college professors-the first such recruitment in 26 years-has been stalled.
This is deeply alarming for Punjab’s higher education and the future of our youth. @BhagwantMann
Al Jazeera reports on Modi’s lack of press conferences & why India under him has fallen to 157 position out of 180 countries in the Press Freedom Index
The true responsibility of the #media is to keep the issues of #Punjab and its people at the forefront. Punjab's concerns deserve to be the media's first priority.
I thank my journalist friend for the question, and I appeal to the entire media fraternity in Punjab to give greater prominence to the state's real issues.
Discussions on internal matters within the Congress Party are a normal part of a democratic political process. While that may be seen as major news by some, the real headlines should be the challenges facing Punjab and the concerns of its people. Punjab's issues deserve the highest priority.
There is no factionalism in the Congress Party. There is only one Congress. We have the space for discussion, dialogue, and differing opinions because we believe in democracy.
Punjab is facing several pressing challenges, and it would be far more constructive if the media focused its attention on those issues rather than creating unnecessary political narratives.
🗳️ Appeal to All Voters
Please visit the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 camp and verify your voter details.
If you have not yet received your Enumeration Form, contact your local Booth Level Officer (BLO), collect the form, fill it out, and submit it without delay.
Also encourage your family members, friends, and neighbours to participate in the SIR camp and ensure every eligible voter is included in the electoral roll.
In the Congress, every leader has the freedom to express their views, and every voice is respected. Unlike parties driven by centralized control, Congress thrives on dialogue, debate and internal democracy.
The real priority is #Punjab and the challenges facing its people. Punjab's future will always come before everything else.
The kind of experiments BJP and the AAP are carrying out on Punjab, the state needs sincere and visionary leadership.
As leaders and journalists, we must rise above personal interests and sensational news, and focus on what is in the best interest of Punjab. Let us speak for Punjab first!
