When you were in opposition you said: “The power to stop these strikes lies squarely with the Government.”
Now you’re in power and offering doctors a 0.9% above inflation pay award that would take 20+ years to undo the damage since 2008.
It is not fair or reasonable for a fully qualified resident doctor in England to be earning £17.56/hr with £100,000 student loan debt. They’re asking for £22.67/hr - a bargain rate for their skill set.
All doctors want is a credible path to full pay restoration. The only thing missing is a Government actually willing to meaningfully negotiate.
We are extremely disappointed @AoMRC has excluded @TheBMA from a meeting to discuss MAPs and doctors in training despite the inclusion of other key stakeholders including @NHSEngland, @gmcuk and ATDC. [1/3]
