one of the most frequent comments on the few videos we posted about our engagement was how much people loved that blackjack (my sister's maltipoo) matched the bride-to-be.
honestly, i found it so funny that they happen to have picked out the same dress (and that blackjack actually picked hers out first).
for any of you who know blackjack, you know that every morning she's presented two hair bows and she decides which one she gets to wear for the day. she's very particular.
the same is true for dresses and clothing. my sister got her a few dress options weeks before the engagement and blackjack decided on her dress even before shirley knew what she was going to wear to the "gala".
it's really cute just how much blackjack loves shirley. she was one of the first to run up to shirley after i proposed.
She said yes! 💍
A few months ago, I told Shirley we were invited to a work gala at the Frick Museum on the 17th. I hired a calligrapher to make a fake fancy invitation and everything.
When we got there, the "gala" staff told us we could explore the collection and to eventually make our way to the garden atrium where the gala party was.
We walked through the Fragonard room and I shared the story behind the four “Progress of Love” paintings, from “The Pursuit” to “Love Letters,” and how some people believe the statue in the last piece, “Love Letters,” is Amitié (friendship), which could imply that the climax of love isn’t just passion but friendship. I told her how much I value the relationship and friendship we’ve built over the past couple of years.
We then made our way to the atrium where she started to realize that there was no gala. I shared that I commissioned my own "love letter" for my best friend and that I was excited to show it to her. She saw the piece at the end of the garden, admired the details, and eventually noticed the artist placard titled
"
Shirley, will you marry me?
— Rousseau Kazi, 2026
"
...when she looked back, I was on one knee, she said yes (woo!), and then saw her family who flew in from across the country to celebrate the moment with her.
Being able to privately explore the museum and take photos with our family was a magical experience. Afterwards, I told her that I got us a table for our family at a restaurant she always wanted to go to. When she got there, she was greeted by 50 of our closest friends.
We ate amazing food, caught up with everyone, and I exhaled realizing that I get to spend the rest of my life with a person I love so deeply.
Those who know me know that I view myself as a story builder more than anything. I got into building products even because it felt like the best way to share a story at scale.
I viewed the proposal as a story that I got to craft and gift to the person I love. We'll hang the art piece in all of our future homes and when people ask her about it, she'll have a nice story to tell and a memory to relive.
Thanks to all of my family, friends, vendors, etc., who made this whole thing possible. Still can't believe how it all came together.
Easily the best day of my life.
“What the ****. Did I do that?” — My sister
My sister came to my brother (a software eng) and me to explain an app idea she wanted to build.
While she was talking, I secretly triggered @superwhisper to capture her rant about the idea. It was truly a rant—filler words, jumping between concepts, cool feature ideas, etc.
Afterward, she asked if we could help her explore building it one weekend. I had her come to my computer, showed her the Whisper transcript, then pasted it into @ChatGPTapp with the prompt: “Turn this into a product spec designed to make it easy for an AI to build into an app.” Ten seconds later, I had a full spec, copied without reading. I then opened @lovable, created an account, pasted the spec, we waited a couple of minutes, and 💥.
She was looking at her idea, one click away from being published. It was already mobile responsive. She asked if she could change something, we typed in exactly what she said—it worked, and her mind was blown.
I said, “Just talk to it like you would an engineer.” My brother responded, “You never talk to me that nicely,” and he’s probably right.
I didn’t hear from her for the rest of the night; she was too busy iterating on her idea.
The world has changed. Some people are living several years in the future compared to their neighbors. There are people today with ideas and dreams who could easily start building if they only knew how possible it was.
We need to make it easier for the broader market to understand how to get much more value out of all the tools available today. Building the future matters, and for exponential curves, pulling the future forward by making it easier to grok—even just a bit—will be incredibly impactful.
Just signed a +1000 person company to @threads!
We've been primarily focused on supporting startups, but this was a good reminder that comm issues caused by "just using chat" compound with team size.
Leadership did a trial, invited another 100, and couldn't imagine going back.
Had a demo call with @Threads last night, and man,
what a great product this is and will be!
Here are my thoughts after using it for a day 👇👇
1.
They managed to fix thread experience from Slack that were bugging me and my teams for a long time
Introducing voice narrations on @Threads🎙
Communication is flexible, and the tools you use should match. Write a thread, hit record, select audio only, and casually talk to walk through your thoughts.
Congrats to @rousseaukazi & the incredible team @Threads for today's launch 🚀 Check out https://t.co/aEfPB7cwhV
I ❤️ it all around but my fav features: how Threads is made up of blocks (easy to write, publish, share & consume) & LOVE the video narration & presentation features.
Never been more excited for the future of @threads!
Tomorrow we start to share our story with more of the world.
Today, I'm feeling gratitude to the team & community for getting us here.
@elonmusk 🙌🏼 IF changed my life. Love that you're experimenting with it. I'm a fan of the 4:3 or ADF schedule. I wrote about how I lost my 50 lbs with Fasting (didn't layer in exercise or diet at the time) while I was running my tech startup: https://t.co/3ZDufyChIn (viewed by 2 million)
✨New Thread✨ One of the biggest mistakes I made & see in others while doing #IntermittentFasting. Check out the extra importance during fasting, why "8 glasses is wrong", the formula for you, and 5 hacks to help: https://t.co/RYU78vhtJr Would love to hear what you think 👇🏼
Joined my 1st CEO Book Club led by @Harris_Bryan as part of the Growth University program. Loved that I was sent the book, post-it bookmarks on his fave pages, mini booklet on his 🔑 takeaways, and the actual zoom call today with other entrepreneurs. Love the extra touches!
What I broke my fast with today👇🏼
I like that it’s filling, doesn’t spike my blood glucose levels after a 36+ hour fast, I feel good afterward, and it takes less than 10 minutes to make!
