As this year's Amarnath Yatra begins, thousands of devotees embark on one of the most arduous pilgrimages in Bharat. 😇

But before we speak about the Yatra, do you know the meaning of Amarnath?

Amara means immortal. Nath means Lord.

Amarnath - the Eternal One, beyond the cycle of birth and death. 🙏

According to a cherished tradition, it was in this sacred Himalayan cave that Lord Shiva revealed the Amar Katha, the secret of immortality, to Devi Parvati.

In the stillness of a secluded cave, the highest spiritual wisdom was revealed.

Before entering the cave, Bhagawan is believed to have left behind everything associated with the worldly realm - Nandi, the crescent moon adorning His matted locks, His serpents, and finally even the Pancha Mahabhutas (the five elements).

Why did He leave them behind?

Was it simply to ensure no one overheard the sacred discourse, or was there a deeper symbolism behind each of these?

As many devotees feel saddened by the early melting of the sacred ice Lingam this year, it is worth remembering one timeless truth:

Mahadeva is not confined to any one form. That is why He is Amarnath - the Eternal One, beyond birth and death.
