I strongly condemn the attack on Kunal Ghosh, MLA from Beliaghata. This is the second time in less than 18 hours that he has been attacked.
Armed goons have targeted and harassed an elected representative, allegedly because he has refused to change sides. If this is the state of safety and security of an elected representative, one can only imagine what ordinary citizens across West Bengal are being subjected to.
I appeal to the Hon’ble Governor Shri R. N. Ravi to intervene immediately and speak to the DG, West Bengal Police and the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. Every perpetrator must be identified and brought to justice and this cycle of violence and intimidation must stop.
The #VoteChor BJP must also answer a simple question. If it believes it has won West Bengal through the mandate of the people, why resort to intimidation and such tactics against those who refuse to change sides?
The people of Bengal deserve peace, security and the rule of law. Political violence, irrespective of who is behind it, has no place in a democracy.
The CEC must be removed immediately and a court monitored investigation ordered. Disenfranchising lakhs of voters to allegedly benefit one political party strikes at the very foundation of our democracy. Those responsible must be held accountable.
After the West Bengal elections, all opposition parties of INDIA wrote to the CJI and SC judges raising serious concerns. Those allegations, however, were neither examined nor given the scrutiny they deserved.
When grave questions affecting the democratic process are repeatedly raised and yet remain unheard, it inevitably raises questions about institutional impartiality.
The Supreme Court cannot look away. The buck stops there.
Will the CJI led Bench act?
BJP’s “Good Governance”. Double Engine style.
Vandalism. Violence. Lawlessness.
Both my offices( Amtala and Camac street) have been vandalised and ransacked in the last one month.
The POLICE and BJP goons seem to fear NEITHER THE LAW NOR THE JUDICIARY.
This is no longer mere lawlessness. This is open defiance of the rule of law.
If this does not shake the conscience of the judiciary, what will?
Shame on the cowardly CM @SuvenduWB , @AmitShah , @ombirlakota and @narendramodi . This is how the Opposition is being treated in India today @IPUparliament .
Will the Judiciary finally intervene to uphold the rule of law, protect constitutional rights and ensure that the authority of the Constitution is not reduced to a mere formality ?
This is what the BJP has done to my party office in the early hours of this morning.
Will the Governor of WB act? Will the Union Home Minister act? Will the PMO act? Or will they continue to look the other way?
It is high time the judiciary, particularly the Calcutta High Court, takes serious note of what is happening and acts to uphold the rule of law in West Bengal.
And one simple question for Suvendu Adhikari: why are you so scared of the Trinamool Congress and of me that you have to resort to this kind of intimidation?
If this is how the Opposition is to be treated in West Bengal, through violence, vandalism and intimidation, then the Chief Minister have no moral authority to remain in office. He must resign.
This is not democracy. This is political thuggery.
Shame on those responsible. And shame on those who choose to remain silent.
Every act like this will be remembered. Every attack, every act of intimidation, every abuse of power. Nothing will be forgotten.
What happened at Camac Street this morning is a disgraceful assault on the rule of law.
At around 4.30 am, BJP hooligans, armed with weapons, stormed our party office in the heart of Kolkata. They attacked our people, snatched their phones, smashed furniture, ransacked the premises and destroyed electronic equipment.
And where was Kolkata Police?
For nearly TWO HOURS, despite repeated calls and emails from our people and lawyers, there was no response.
This is outrageous and unacceptable.
We demand the immediate arrest of every person involved in this attack. We also demand an investigation into who planned, organised and directed this violence, and why the police failed to act despite being repeatedly informed.
No political party and no group of armed hooligans can be above the law.
If people can storm a political party office with weapons at 4.30 in the morning, assault people and vandalise property while the police remain absent, then what exactly is left of the rule of law in West Bengal?
Enough is enough. Arrest the perpetrators. Fix accountability. Act now.
West Bengal is witnessing the steady erosion of constitutional governance and an alarming descent into a police state. When the power of the State operates without constitutional restraint, the judiciary becomes the last line of defence.
If judicial intervention does not come when fundamental rights are being undermined, what is at stake is no longer merely the liberty of individuals. It is the survival of democracy itself.
When you cannot earn respect, you manufacture fear. The BJP’s politics of threats and intimidation only exposes its own insecurity.
A NEW LOW in Indian politics!
@SuvenduWB, while seated in a government office, has brazenly THREATENED me, publicly declaring that he will ensure I cannot even leave my home.
I call upon the Hon’ble President of India, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, and the people of India: Is this the India envisioned by our Constitution?
A sitting Chief Minister, sworn to uphold that very Constitution, openly threatens to curtail the freedom of the Chairperson of the principal opposition party, @AITCofficial.
The words were unambiguous: “I will ensure you cannot leave the house.”
What exactly does that mean? House arrest? Intimidation? Political persecution? Who gave you the authority to decide who gets to move freely in a constitutional democracy?
Perhaps he is confusing me with those known to bow before authoritarianism. That, I must say, is a grave misreading.
This is bigger than Mamata Banerjee. This is about the kind of India @BJP4India wants to create - where political opponents are threatened, dissent is punished, and constitutional rights become privileges granted by those in power.
INDIA IS WITNESSING A DANGEROUS AUTHORITARIAN MOMENT.
And history offers one enduring lesson: power may intimidate for a while, but arrogance eventually answers to the people.
Their arrogance is loud.
Their desperation is louder.
Their days are numbered.
I think the BJP government, after coming to power in West Bengal has spent more time registering FIRs against me than delivering Ayushman Bharat and Lakshmir Bhandar benefits to the people who actually need them.
It’s equally interesting to see a section of the media amplify this political vendetta, happily sacrificing basic journalistic ethics to play puppetry for those in power.
The FIRs are being filed by the same politically motivated individuals, targeting my work in public service- offering free medical check-ups and COVID tests, building roads and carrying out infrastructure development in Diamond Harbour. I never imagined that a so-called double-engine government would be so averse to development and good work.
To them and to my friends in the media, I have only one thing to say:- These tactics don’t intimidate me or slow me down. Do what you can. I will keep doing what I was elected to do. 😊
I strongly condemn the treatment meted out to @RahulGandhi Ji, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. In a parliamentary democracy, the Opposition is not an adversary of the State but an indispensable constitutional institution. Respect for constitutional offices cannot be selective, nor can accountability be met with intimidation.
The police atrocities on our youth in Delhi is unacceptable. Shame on the Union government. The All India Trinamool Congress fully supports the sit-down protest by the Opposition today near Akbar Road. Our full solidarity.
There were also police atrocities in Kolkata all through last night. BJP goons did all could they could to disrupt preparations for our Martyrs' Day programme. They arrived on motorcycle squads, destroyed signage, vandalised the stage and deliberately cut microphone wires. Many youth were threatened and injured by these goons.
Inspite of all this, our Martyrs' Day program today in Kolkata was very special, supported by our committed grassroots workers and people from across Bengal. We pledge to unitedly fight the atrocities and dictatorial attitude of the BJP.
We will take our fight from Bengal to India. United we stand.
BJP and its B-team, the ‘Vanish Commission’, are sending Observers to Bengal to alter the election outcome through unfair means. These “Observers” are individuals with special proximity to the BJP; individuals with criminal antecedents; individuals accused in corruption and bribery cases.
But the real “Observers” are the people of Bengal. And they have been watching. They have watched every rupee of Bengal's rightful funds withheld. Every legitimate voter erased. Every constitutional office weaponised against this state. Every attempt to bend Bengal to its knees and force it to beg for what is rightfully its own.
Now, the time has come for the people to respond in the only language the BJP understands. Straight-out rejection. The people of Dhupguri and Kalchini are fully prepared. Every single vote for our candidates Dr. Nirmal Chandra Roy and Shri Birendra Bara will land like a bolt of lightning on a party that mistook Bengal's patience for submission.
Your reckoning is here. Brace for impact.
The migratory birds of BJP fly into Bengal before every election and vanish the moment the results are out. Trinamool Congress, on the other hand, stands with you all 365 days of the year. BJP talks about “Sankalp”. We deliver our “Protigya”. BJP conspires to snatch away your constitutional right to vote. We fight relentlessly to protect your franchise.
BJP forces you to stand in endless queues. We reach your doorstep with a wide range of welfare schemes. BJP believes in the politics of “Dharma”. We believe in the politics of “Karma”. That is, was, and will always be the fundamental difference between us. And it is this difference that will decide the fate of Bengal in the coming elections.
Today, during my janasabhas covering Daspur, Keshiary, and Dantan, and the karmisabha at Nandigram, I clearly felt the pulse of the people. They are seething with anger and waiting for the right moment to democratically bury the BJP under an avalanche of votes.
Come 4th May, the people of Bengal will settle the final score.
This is precisely why judicial authority was diluted and the Chief Justice of India was removed from the CEC selection panel. If this trajectory continues, it won’t be long before Supreme Court judgments appear politically stamped.
Those sworn to protect the Constitution are now chipping away at its very foundations to serve narrow political ends. A BETRAYAL OF BOTH DUTY AND DEMOCRACY.
What a troubling decline for our institutions!
If this is the “PARIVARTAN” BJP promises Bengal- abuse, vulgarity and attacks on our Chief Minister- then Bengal rejects it outright. Insulting her is an insult to every Bengali and every woman of this state.
A minion from Uttar Pradesh using such language and facing no consequences exposes BJP’s true character. This is their “DOUBLE ENGINE” model.
Will the @ECISVEEP , @PMOIndia , @HMOIndia @CMOfficeUP act?
BENGAL is watching and the ANSWER will come loud and clear on 4th May!
Today, I place before the people my 10 ‘Protigya’ for Bengal.
My commitments span every pillar of governance, strengthening support for women, youth, farmers, landless agricultural labourers, and the elderly; advancing education and healthcare; ensuring housing and piped drinking water for every household; strengthening administration; and transforming Bengal into the Gateway of trade for Eastern India.
Through these pledges, I reiterate my resolve to sustain the momentum of progress with renewed vigour in the fourth term of my Maa-Mati-Manush Sarkar, and to further strengthen Bengal’s position as one of the leading states of the nation.
উন্নয়নের চাকা যাতে অবিরাম গতিতে এগিয়ে চলে এবং আমার প্রাণপ্রিয় বাংলার প্রতিটি ঘরে ঘরে যেন খুশির আলো জ্বলে ওঠে, সেই লক্ষ্যেই চতুর্থবারের জন্য আমাদের সরকারের আগামী পাঁচ বছরের পথচলার পাথেয় হিসেবে আমি আমার ১০টি ‘প্রতিজ্ঞা’ আপনাদের চরণে সশ্রদ্ধচিত্তে পেশ করছি।
বাংলার মা-বোনেদের স্বনির্ভর করতে আমি বদ্ধপরিকর। 'লক্ষ্মীর ভাণ্ডার' প্রকল্পে মাসিক আর্থিক সহায়তা আরও ৫০০ টাকা বৃদ্ধি করা হয়েছে। ফলে সাধারণ শ্রেণির মা-বোনেরা মাসে ১,৫০০ টাকা (বার্ষিক ১৮,০০০ টাকা) এবং তপশিলি জাতি ও তপশিলি জনজাতিভুক্ত মা-বোনেরা মাসে ১,৭০০ টাকা (বার্ষিক ২০,৪০০ টাকা) করে সরাসরি সহায়তা পেতে থাকবেন।
আমাদের তরুণ প্রজন্মের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য আমি সবসময় পাশে আছি। 'বাংলার যুব-সাথী' প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে রাজ্যের জীবিকাহীন যুবক-যুবতীদের মাসে ১,৫০০ টাকা (বার্ষিক ১৮,০০০ টাকা) করে আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান অব্যাহত রাখব।
বাংলার অন্নদাতারা আমাদের গর্ব। কৃষক পরিবারগুলির সার্বিক কল্যাণ ও ভূমিহীন কৃষকদের কথা মাথায় রেখে আমি ৩০,০০০ কোটি টাকার এক বিশেষ ‘কৃষি বাজেট’ রূপায়ণের সংকল্প করছি, যা আমাদের কৃষি ব্যবস্থার সামগ্রিক উন্নয়ন ঘটাবে।
বাংলার প্রতিটি পরিবারের মাথার ওপর থাকবে পাকা ছাদ। এছাড়া ঘরে ঘরে পরিস্রুত পানীয় জলের সংযোগ পৌঁছে দিতে আমি বদ্ধপরিকর।
স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা এবার পৌঁছে যাবে আপনার ঘরের আঙিনায়। প্রতিট��� ব্লক ও টাউনে প্রতি বছর আমার সরকার আয়োজন করবে 'দুয়ারে চিকিৎসা' শিবির, যাতে হাতের নাগালেই আপনারা পাবেন উন্নতমানের স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা।
ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মকে বিশ্বমানের শিক্ষায় শিক্ষিত করতে 'বাংলার শিক্ষায়তন' প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে রাজ্যের সমস্ত সরকারি স্কুলের সামগ্রিক পরিকাঠামোগত উন্নয়ন করতে আমি বদ্ধপরিকর।
আমি পূর্ব ভারতের বাণিজ্যের প্রাণকেন্দ্র হিসেবে বাংলাকে গড়ে তুলতে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ। বিশ্বমানের লজিস্টিকস, বন্দর, বাণিজ্যিক পরিকাঠামো এবং একটি অত্যাধুনিক গ্লোবাল ট্রেড সেন্টার তৈরির মাধ্যমে আমি বাংলাকে বিনিয়োগ ও ব্যবসার শ্রেষ্ঠ গন্তব্য করে তুলব।
প্রবীণ নাগরিকদের সুরক্ষা আমার পবিত্র কর্তব্য। বর্তমান সকল উপভোক্তার জন্য নিরবচ্ছিন্ন বার্ধক্য ভাতার সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করার পাশাপাশি, ধীরে ধীরে এই ভাতার স��রক্ষা পরিধিকে আরও সম্প্রসারিত করে সকল যোগ্য প্রবীণ নাগরিককে এর আওতায় নিয়ে আসা হবে।
এছাড়াও আমি প্রতিজ্ঞা করছি, সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে প্রশাসনকে আরও নিবিড়ভাবে পৌঁছে দিতে ৭টি নতুন জেলা তৈরি করব এবং সামগ্রিক ভৌগোলিক পুনর্গঠনের মাধ্যমে পৌরসভার সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি করব।
এই ১০টি ‘প্রতিজ্ঞা’ হবে আমার আগামী পাঁচ বছরের সুশাসনের মূল ভিত্তি ��বং উন্নয়নের ধারা অব্যাহত রাখার পথচিত্র।
I humbly present my 10 ‘Protigya’ for Bengal, so that the wheels of development continue to move forward in the fourth term of my government.
Under Lakshmir Bhandar, with an increase of ₹500, women will continue to receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 for General category beneficiaries (₹18,000 annually) and ₹1,700 for SC/ST beneficiaries (₹20,400 annually).
I will continue Banglar Yuba-Sathi, extending financial support of ₹1,500 per month (₹18,000 annually) to unemployed youth.
I also commit to instituting a ₹30,000 crore Agri-Budget to ensure continued assistance to farm families, provide support to landless farmers, and enable holistic upgradation of the agricultural sector.
I promise that every family in Bengal will have a pucca house, and every household will have access to piped drinking water.
Additionally, my Government will organise annual Duare Chikitsa camps in every block and town to ensure effective doorstep delivery of healthcare.
I will ensure the holistic infrastructural upgradation of all Government schools under Banglar Shikshayatan.
I will work to make Bengal the gateway of trade for Eastern India, with world-class logistics, ports, trade infrastructure, and a state-of-the-art Global Trade Centre.
I will strive to ensure uninterrupted Old Age Pension support for all existing beneficiaries, while gradually extending the safety net to all eligible senior citizens.
I also promise to establish seven new districts and expand the number of Urban Local Bodies through a comprehensive geographical reorganisation.
These 10 ‘Protigya’ will form the foundation of my governance and serve as the roadmap for the next five years.
Bengal has always led with conviction, knowing the way, going the way and showing the way. Smt. @MamataOfficial’s 10 ‘Protigya’ reflect this very ethos, deeply rooted in the lived realities, needs and aspirations of our people.
From empowering women, youth, farmers and senior citizens with dignity and opportunity, to ensuring a pucca home and piped water for every household; from taking healthcare to the doorstep through Duare Chikitsa to upgrading Government schools with modern infrastructure, this is a vision that seamlessly blends compassion with ambition.
Coupled with a renewed push for industrial growth and stronger administrative efficiency, it charts a future that is both progressive and inclusive. This vision is born not out of abstraction, but from constant engagement with the people. It is now our collective responsibility to translate these commitments into reality by strengthening the hands that have tirelessly worked for Bengal’s welfare.
