@SmartisantLtd Great write up - I am in a very similar boat to you in terms of solar/battery/ev etc. One thing I am using is a "PV diverter" for hot water heating. This means any excess solar can be diverted to hot water, rather than waiting for > 3kW. Based on https://t.co/Pk0ADVTUgF.
@SmartisantLtd Very interesting project. How are you calculating the hot water percentage from your 3x temp sensor readings? I have a similar set of sensors but have never thought of calculating the % value of the tank.
@JonathanGiles Yep I looked into HWHPs pretty closely - but with PV + Powerwall going in it made more sense to have a simple HWC with element(s) and divert excess solar during the day. From all reports HWHPs are expensive to maintain and after 4-5yrs start having problems...
@JonathanGiles Do you have a drained drip tray under your indoor cylinder? My current place doesn't (only 10yrs old) but I will be definitely having one in the new place.
