𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧: The pupils of Bulubandi Primary School are asking a question that should challenge us all:
“Where is our destiny?”
“Imagine you fail and they complain, yet we do not feed. On empty stomachs we study by day.”
🎶 “𝐂𝐨𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥!” 🎶
That was the joyful message from the pupils of Bulubandi P/S during the 5th #PNW event. Their song reminded us that #schoolfeeding is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we can nourish young minds, and boost nutrition.

Currently, 66% of over seven million primary school children in Uganda spend their school day without a meal. Those who do eat often receive inadequate nutrition. This is more than neglect; it is a violation of the fundamental right to food.

During the dialogue, our ED Ms. @kiraboaggie called for urgent action to end malnutrition in Uganda, emphasizing that nutrition is not just a health issue but a foundation for Uganda’s tenfold economic growth agenda. She urged @Parliament_Ug to prioritize the #FoodandNutritionBill, fully implement school feeding programs, and enforce the #NationalNutrientProfilingModel to protect children from unhealthy foods.

The event was organized in partnership with the @FRAUGANDA under the #CASCADE project, @FianUganda, @ConsentUganda, and @pelum_uganda.
Under the theme: “𝐍𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞”, stakeholders discussed strengthening political commitment and increasing resource allocation for evidence-based school feeding and nutrition programs at both national and sub-national levels.
The dialogue also reviewed commitments made by district leaders during previous Nutrition Weeks held in Kamwenge (2024) and Moroto, Karamoja Sub-region (2025).
The meeting brought together parliamentarians, CSOs, duty bearers, media practitioners, academics, and development partners to advance nutrition accountability and healthier futures for Uganda’s children.

We have implemented and tested game-changing actions and solutions. Under the #CASCADE project @FRAUGANDA , in partnership with @NPA_UG, have developed a Planner’s Guide and a Handbook on mainstreaming nutrition into #PDM with the @MoLGUganda. We have supported the orientation of key stakeholders in the Toro, Acholi, and Karamoja sub-regions to these tools. We now need to scale up these efforts and provide support to implementers in using them.

Money has never been in abundance. We are always complaining that resources are scarce. However, the trends suggest that we are not actually short of resources; rather, we are short of deliberate action, prioritization, coherence, and alignment. I believe we have resources that could be put to proper use. We must get aligned, coordinated, and stop competing against each other. - Ms. @kiraboaggie
