*BASEBALL COACHES*
With the help from our infield coach @b_szink12 I have created a Google Drive with 300+ videos dedicated to infield, outfield and team defense. If you have interest in something like this, hit the RT and I will reach out on how to access it. Preview below:
Prep-step timing 👇
• Move with the pitch • Hop/split step as the ball enters the zone • Read & react on the descent • Land after contact

Game 179 for the @Dodgers. Biggest stage. Two of the best players in the world still hammering the fundamentals!
Greatness lives in the details. Master the mundane. ⚾️ 📚

Gritty 2-out play last night by Tommy Edman: dives, keeps the ball in the infield & prevents a run.
Next batter (Verdugo) strikes out to keep it a one run game in the middle innings.
Elite defenders are SELFLESS‼️

What variables dictate utilizing an underhand flip vs. a power feed at 2B?
1. Ability/Comfortability
2. Spacing/Distance from the Bag
3. Momentum
4. Ground Ball (Pace, Hop Type)

How important is prep step timing?
Here is the perfect drill to show the difference between making a play & not!
Great for working on prep step timing and first step efficiency
Video 1 - on time (landed as the ball is being hit or slightly after)
Video 2 - landed early
Sustained excellence is all about building intentional routines and sticking with them consistently. Here’s a snapshot of one of my pre-game routines to get me ready to compete and play at the highest level.
Do you know what an “average” ground ball looks like at your level?
🔑 Trends/Takeaways:
- Higher EVs to the MIF
- Sharper angles hit to 1B & 3B
- GBs hit harder to hitters’ pull-side
Knowing this info helps you set a baseline for training your INF for what they’ll see in-game
Double Cut 🔑s
Lead man:
- Show a big 🎯
- Work to get the ⚾️ to the 🧤 side
Trailer:
- Align the lead man
- 5 yards behind
- 🗣️ w/ lead man on 🏃🏽♂️s
- Handle whatever lead man can’t
- Work to get the ⚾️ to the 🧤 side

🗣️ Base stealers
Your lead matters! Make a habit of how you take your lead so you know your lead size.

Pre-game routines/reps
Love how each player is feeling something just a little bit different with the same GB feed
Each player’s routine will vary as they prep for battle. As coaches it is important to be a resource for players (not a roadblock 🚧) during their preparation
