Resist the cultural appropriation of our subculture!
Stand up against the commercialisation and gentrification!

Can sympathise, i can still remember 20 odd years ago, the first time I heard someone mention OSINT, it was a high ranking officer in the Intelligence Directorate SIB (Service Intelligence Bureau) at New Scotland Yard.
We had always pronounced it Google
@LadyCyberRosie@GlennPegden@Funsox @ms__chief To quote an early ad 'The Manchester meet tends to be a little different, we start in a bar and frequently continue drinking till 2am going on to a club afterwards. The meeting continues for as long as at least two participants are able to maintain an intelligent conversation.'
@ms__chief @GlennPegden@Funsox@LadyCyberRosie As weβve no intention of restarting our 2600 meetings youβre more than welcome to start a new meeting, good luck with your new endeavour.
@GlennPegden@Funsox@LadyCyberRosie @ms__chief @_dc151 We meet a couple of times a week at lunchtimes in a pub in south Manchester for a suitably liver damaging discussion on the state of hacking in the UK, though we no longer finish the session by breaking into telco buildings or stealing trash.
@GlennPegden@Funsox@LadyCyberRosie @ms__chief I tried to find the original usenet post when we had our 20th year party in 2015 but i think it predates any archives
@GlennPegden@Funsox@LadyCyberRosie @ms__chief As the organisers of Manchester 2600, you are correct, it was started via a post by you on the https://t.co/0L29oO8hZR usenet group and first met in December 1995, Marc had no involvement in it since after around January 1997.
@GlennPegden@Funsox@LadyCyberRosie @ms__chief There have been over 250 public Manchester 2600 meetings and I have personally attended everyone.
We also ran numerous other successful events over the years. https://t.co/nnjEdWsEMp.

@GlennPegden More whimsical then, based on looks or the weather on polling day rather than policy?
Isn't there a strength in sticking to your beliefs rather than flip flopping at the whims of public opinion?
@GlennPegden Why do you think they wouldn't ? Both would show commitment to the area and roots in the community.
Is it a worse idea than any dipstick aged over 18, any arbitrary number in its self, why 18 rather than 17 or 19?
