Next week! Show up to Philadelphia City Hall to support Community College of Philadelphia.
Initially, CCP testimony was cut from the schedule, but it’s back on!
CCP is facing continued cuts from the state and millions in deferred maintenance.
To be clear, the deal was never contingent on funding. We didn’t agree to that nor to a “pilot program” nor any other stall tactic. They made an agreement to provide @SEPTA passes for students in the final hours before a strike. CCP must honor that agreement. #Phillyisauniontown
In fact, it wasn’t until recently that the College even started making these new excuses. For most of a year— when students protested at board meetings and we pushed in every way we could think of to push— they just said they were waiting on funding.
"I think if it wasn't for students like us who are like holding their feet to the fire, they would just let it slip by and think that nobody would notice," Smalley said.
We bargained in good faith. CCP’s leaders understood the agreement was for @SEPTA passes for ALL students.
“Sultan Smalley, a student at CCP, said that thousands of students have signed a petitioncalling for the passes. Students also have sent hundreds of emails to the board of trustees, asking the college to follow through on the program.”
