Thereβs something that has always fascinated me.
Itβs not the photos. Itβs not the flowers. Itβs not the kisses. Itβs not even the carefully crafted romantic narratives that seem to appear over and over again.
Itβs the timing.
Because whenever the conversation starts revolving around the music, whenever the shows begin speaking for themselves, whenever the lyrics reconnect dots that some people would rather keep disconnected, whenever audiences leave with more questions than answers and hearts beating a little too fast... suddenly the focus shifts.
And once again, we are brought back to the same place.
A girlfriend. A walk. A photo. A headline.
As if the art itself were not enough.
As if we constantly need to be reminded where we should look and where we shouldn't.
Maybe that's why these things no longer have the impact they once did.
After so many years, the pattern becomes predictable. The settings change, the names change, the faces change, but the feeling remains exactly the same.
Meanwhile, the music keeps saying far more interesting things.
Because campaigns last days. Photos last hours.
Headlines last minutes.
But songs survive for years.
And for some curious reason, there always seems to be far more effort put into explaining the girlfriends than explaining the songs.
To me, that's the most revealing part of all.

Harry voice was so beautiful singing at the Meltdown Festival. He is a man who loves singing, who loves his family, friends & his real fans. Above all else, he is a gay man who loves his husband, love of his life of 16 yrs, Louis Tomlinson. They deserve freedomπππ³οΈβππ #FreeLarry
Closeting is genuinely one of the worst things imaginable. Having to hide your love for someone, and only being able to express it publicly through songs written for each other⦠I hope Harry and Louis get to be free and happy together one day.
Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, weβll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change β all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
Louis Tomlinson (@Louis_Tomlinson) returns to the cover of Dork in our March 2026 issue. Taking over a section of the magazine as our first-ever guest editor. (We have to call him 'boss' and get the coffee until next month rolls around - deposed Ed.)
