How do you even process a headline like this?
Every click has a cost. It should never be a child’s future. Children are not content. They are not clicks. They are not commerce.

If the BBC’s investigation is accurate, it exposes something far more disturbing than a technological failure. It raises the possibility that one of the world’s largest digital platforms allowed advertisements that allegedly promoted child sexual abuse material, with some directing users to exploitation networks on Telegram.

A BBC Eye investigation has found that Instagram in India is running ads promoting child sexual abuse material — and making money from these ads. Some of the ads feature children who appear to be as young as seven or eight and link out to content on the messaging app Telegram. Reporter Divya Arya tracks down a former Meta executive-turned-whistleblower to find out how Instagram’s moderation system has failed to detect these ads — and, still searching for answers, confronts the head of Meta in India.

Let that sink in.

This isn’t about politics. It isn’t about left versus right. It isn’t about supporting or opposing a particular company. It’s about Child Support & Safety on SM platforms.

It is about one simple question:

How can a platform with billions of users, some of the world’s most advanced AI systems, and enormous moderation resources fail to detect something this horrific?

If these allegations are substantiated, they demand far more than a corporate statement. They require complete transparency, independent investigations, criminal accountability where applicable, and an urgent review of how digital advertising systems are monitored worldwide.

The internet has transformed the way humanity communicates. It should never become a marketplace that predators can exploit while corporations unknowingly—or worse, negligently—profit from it.

Children deserve better.
Parents deserve answers.
Society deserves accountability

I sincerely hope every allegation made in this investigation is examined thoroughly and independently. If even a fraction of what has been reported is true, it represents one of the gravest failures of online safety in recent years.

No business model, no algorithm, no engagement metric, and no advertising revenue can ever justify failing to protect a child.
