While nearly 18% of U.S. adults have taken a GLP-1 drug for weight loss or to treat a chronic condition, about half of people will stop taking it within a year. Often, they don’t understand what is likely to come next. 🔗: https://t.co/tEb8ra9Qer
Americans selling plasma for income while officials say the economy is strong
Plasma, a key component of blood, is used to produce life-saving medicines worldwide. The United States accounts for roughly 70 percent of the global plasma supply, in large part because donors are legally allowed to receive financial compensation.
Americans can donate up to twice a week. At an average of about $65 per visit, that can add up to more than $400 a month. According to an NBC News report, some middle-class Americans are relying on plasma donations to help cover everyday expenses, even as government officials describe the U.S. economy as historically strong.
