Good post. And why in our opinion this move made sense for Penn State but didn’t for an OU program that is on shaky ground everywhere but the defense - which has improved every year.

There seemed little reason for the OU admin to add that much in new contracts while installing a new defense. Risk reward was not in their favor. This worked out best for the OU admin, IMO

And for those bashing various OU sites, from what I saw all the major sites were either skeptical this was happening or at best cautiously optimistic.

I appreciate Knowles helping to bring a Natty here. The thing is, it will not be an overnight magic wand. Penn State is all in for next year. They have to win now.

Knowles defense is very complex to install. The first two years OSU defense gave up critical chunk plays that cost them a Title in 2022. They got better each year, but it took year 3 with a veteran/loaded defense and a Caleb Downs addition to put it all together post Oregon game #1.
