ESPN Sources: The NBA is expected to select the winning bid for owner of the Las Vegas expansion team in the very near future, with a price of at least $12-13 billion for the franchise and new arena among three finalist groups – Nancy Walton Laurie and Bill Laurie; Steve Apostolopoulos and Marc Lasry; Bill Foley and Jerry Colangelo.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said the league toured Climate Pledge Arena and the venue is so ready they could play in five weeks if they desired.

That's not the timeline, of course, it's more like 2028-2029 should expansion play out the right way for Seattle.

But it did make me want to go down memory lane.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says the league has had operational groups visit Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, and the league still plans on making an expansion decision by the end of 2026.

Most of Silver's comments after the long meeting concerned the punishment of Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, who has accepted punishment over allegations he circumvented the salary cap to sign Kawhi Leonard.

"In Seattle, we have had operational groups out to Climate Pledge," Silver said. "You clearly have a state-of-the-art arena there."

Silver said the league may put Las Vegas behind Seattle in the process, given the status of the arenas.
