If your daughter is young then it’s easy. Read her books. Sit down and color or draw pictures with her. Any kind of arts and crafts activity. Make paper airplanes or puppets out of brown lunch bags. Go outside and run around. Play tag.

Also include her in whatever you’re doing. Girls love to help their dads. My three year old “helped” me make a pot of chili last week. Absolutely thrilled to be involved.

Chase him around. Toss him in the air. Build a tower with blocks and let him knock it over. Let him climb something.

But the main thing a boy wants to do is whatever his dad is doing. Give him a plastic lawnmower to push around the lawn while you mow. Let him pretend that he’s helping while you do chores around the house. Anything like that.
