Some interesting things about Immadi Pulikeshi - one of the greatest warrior emperors India ever had..

1) He defeated Harsha Vardhana, the undefeated. After defeating Harsha, he embraced him!
2) His Chalukya empire won almost everything from Narmada to Kanyakumari. Henced titled Dakshina Patheshwara.
3) Though a Vaishnava, his aradhya daiva was Shiva's son Kartikeya. He supported Jain's too.
4) His lanchana was Varaha, an avatar of Vishnu.
5) His father was a Varma. Kirti Varma. Yes, the southern part of India had Varma names across kingdoms.
6) His sworn enemies, the Pallavas of today's Tamil Nadu, were also Varmas.
7) His younger brother's name was Buddha Varasa. See, a Vaishnava Hindu family had Buddha as name.
8) He studied in Aihole, in today's Karnataka. That place was known as Arya Pura then. Note the Arya part!
9) Instead of fighting his brother Vishnu Vardhana for throne, he walked away. Later his family invited him back to the throne.
10) His court languages were Sanskrit and Kannada. See, no North south divisions then.
11) Women were a part of his administration.
12) He was so famous 1400 years ago, that Persia's Khusro II sent an emissary requesting Chalukya help from India. Did you school books teach you this?
