Last week I had the pleasure of joining my colleagues in a set of tours of the Post-Wildfire Flood Mitigation System in the Pipeline Fire Flood Area. We are proud to announce that to this day, the County has completed $96 million worth of projects along all 9 watersheds.

Two amazing events took place this last weekend here in Flagstaff. Juneteenth and Flagstaff Pride were a huge success.

During yesterday's meeting, the BOS proclaimed June as #PrideMonth in our County. Pride month is all about celebrating the history and accomplishments of the LGBTQ+ Community. We will continue working to ensure a safe environment for everyone regardless of their sexuality.

On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I would like to extend a big congratulations to Coconino High School’s robotics team “The CocoNuts” for securing the 2024 FIRST Impact Award Championship! We are proud of the team for their dedication and well-deserved success. Go Panthers!

Had a great time today at the High Country Stand Down where I participated in a ceremony recognizing members from our community who have served for many years. The Coconino County Board of Supervisors is pleased to designate May 2024 as Military Appreciation Month.

As a former educator, I am pleased to see Coconino County teachers receiving the recognition they deserve. On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I would like to congratulate Coconino High School teacher Jeremiah Smith for winning this year’s Teacher of the Year Award, (1)

and Emily Cartwright from Eva Marshall Magnet Elementary School for winning the Rookie Teacher of the Year Award. It was also a great pleasure for the Board of Supervisors to sponsor this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. (2)
