In a historic decision, the Board of Trustees of Southwestern University has named Laura E. Skandera Trombley, Ph.D., as its 16th president. Trombley is the first woman to hold the top leadership position at Texas’s first university.

The last three SU Presidents cover the period from 1981-2019. These years saw even more growth and financial stability for the university, the return of SU Football, and the creation of new academic programs. Join us the livestream at noon for the announcement of the #SU16th.

The next four SU Presidents cover the period from 1935-1981. These years are marked by greater financial stability, the creation of a Navy V-12 Unit during WWII, the celebration of the SU centennial, the expansion of the SU campus, and growth of the student population. #SU16th

Our next four SU Presidents covered the years 1911-1935. This period saw the creation of a Student Army Training Unit during WWI, the loss of the Ladies Annex, the building of the first free standing library, and keeping the school afloat during the Great Depression. #SU16th
