Development Update #9 β Engine Online & Consensus Live
Hey Brett fam π
We've hit a huge milestone! The Layer Brett chain is officially alive. Weβve not only fired up the execution layer (OP-Geth) but also brought the consensus layer (OP-Node) online and fully synced.
In simple terms: the engine is running, and the navigator is steering.
WHAT WE DID!
Launched OP-Geth using our finalized genesis block, marking the first live blocks on the Layer Brett chain.
Verified block production, transaction processing, and smooth state transitions with no errors.
Connected monitoring and metrics tools to track block times, gas usage, and performance in real time.
Started OP-Node and successfully linked it with OP-Geth, completing the chainβs execution + consensus loop.
Ran multiple sync tests to ensure both layers agreed perfectly on block history and network state.
WHY THIS MATTERS?
The execution layer is the engine that processes and stores transactions, while the consensus layer ensures every node agrees on whatβs true.
With both now running together, Layer Brett can officially:
Produce and validate blocks in real time.
Maintain a synchronized and consistent history across all components.
Operate as a fully functional, live Layer 2 network - ready for the next stage: the public testnet launch.
This is the moment where all the behind-the-scenes groundwork starts becoming something the community can touch and test.
TECHNICAL NOTES
Block production confirmed at the configured interval.
Precompile contracts verified and functioning.
OP-Node successfully pulling rollup configurations directly from deployed contracts.
Finalized block confirmations appearing at the expected cadence.
Early metrics show stable communication between the execution and consensus layers.
WHATS NEXT
Next update marks a major milestone - we will reveal the date of the Layer Brett Testnet Launch! π
Weβll open the doors for the community to connect wallets, send test transactions, and see the chain in action for the first time.
We canβt wait to see the community jumping in, testing, and helping us make Brettβs Layer 2 faster, funnier and more unstoppable than ever.

Development Update #8 β Wiring It All Together & Kicking Off Governance π³οΈπΈ
Hey Brett fam π
This week was all about connecting the dots - wiring up every deployed contract, syncing configurations, and taking the first steps toward community governance on the Layer Brett network.
WHAT WE DID!
Updated all config files so each service (proposer, batcher, node, etc.) now points to the correct contract addresses.
Double-checked logs to confirm every component recognizes and connects to those contracts correctly.
Completed a round of dry-run deployments to catch any mismatches or misconfigurations.
Began building the foundation for the Layer Brett Voting & Governance Platform - our own on-chain decision hub where holders will be able to vote on proposals, community initiatives, and chain parameters.
WHY THIS MATTERS?
Precision is everything in blockchain infrastructure - one wrong address or mismatched config can break entire systems. By wiring everything correctly now, we ensure Layer Brettβs network runs smoothly once itβs fully live.
On the governance side, this marks the start of something bigger: community-powered control. The voting platform will let
holders shape the future of the ecosystem, from protocol upgrades to meme-related initiatives. Weβre aiming for something that feels seamless, gas-efficient, and fun to use.
TECHNICAL NOTES:
Cross-referenced all deployed addresses with our deployment artifacts for accuracy.
Verified that every service (OP-Geth, OP-Node, batcher, proposer) successfully resolves contract endpoints.
Stored verified configs in version control for shared team access.
Governance platform development began with smart contract templates for proposal creation, vote weighting, and signature-based voting logic.
WHATS NEXT:
Next, we will:
Boot up the execution layer (OP-Geth) with our finalized genesis block - giving the Layer Brett chain its first heartbeat.
Continue development of the governance frontend, including UI mockups for proposal browsing and voting.
Test governance contract interactions locally before connecting them to testnet.
