Three Things Being Destroyed in This War

Wars do more than destroy armies and weapons. They destroy illusions.

The war now unfolding in the Middle East is exposing truths that many people were not ready to confront. And as the smoke clears, three very different forces are being shattered before our eyes.

The first, perhaps the least expected, is the self-destruction of media personality Tucker Carlson.

Carlson has repeatedly claimed that he rarely talks about Israel or the Jews. Yet somehow, he always finds his way back to exactly talk about Israel and the Jews. Single-handedly, he is creating a whole new generation of proud Jew-haters, and the consequences of that are real, leading Jewish communities in the U.S. to invest more in security measures.

Over the past weeks, Carlson’s rhetoric has crossed a line from criticism into something far more troubling, repeating conspiratorial claims that Israel manipulates American leaders and drags the United States into wars against its own interests.

Even the government of Qatar publicly rejected claims Carlson made about supposed Israeli intelligence operations there.

Then things escalated further.

Carlson labeled President Donald Trump’s decision to strike the Iranian regime as “absolutely disgusting and evil.” And in perhaps the most bizarre turn yet, he recently attempted to blame Chabad Jews for the war.

But Carlson made one fatal mistake: he tried to portray Trump as a puppet, suggesting that the president could not make his own decisions and that Israel and “the Jews” somehow control him.

That accusation crossed a line.

President Trump responded publicly and forcefully:
“Tucker has lost his way. I knew that a long time ago, and he's not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America First, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”

Carlson may still have millions of followers. But by promoting conspiracies that portray the United States as controlled by Jews and Israel, he has made himself increasingly irrelevant, and toxic, even among the political movement he once influenced.

The second illusion collapsing in this war is the myth of Gulf Arab states strength.

For decades the oil-rich Gulf states projected an image of wealth and influence. Their skylines glitter with glass towers, their sovereign wealth funds hold trillions of dollars and their diplomats positioned themselves as power brokers across the region.

But this war has revealed a harsh reality.

Money does not equal strength.

Iran has consistently shot missiles and drones at the Gulf states, at civilian infrastructure, not just U.S. bases. And the Gulf states have no capability to defend themselves independently.

Their security has depended overwhelmingly on American military protection.

When the United States reduces its military footprint in the Middle East after this war, as many in Washington have advocated, the Gulf monarchies will face a stark choice: remain unprotected or seek protection from the one regional power that has demonstrated the ability and will to confront threats head-on.
Israel.

The Middle East has always been a region shaped by power, not by illusions of diplomacy alone. As the region returns to its more traditional form of ethnic tribalism, only strong states will shape the future.

The third and most significant collapse underway is the humiliation of the Iranian regime itself.

For decades, the Shiite Islamist government in Tehran built what it believed was an unstoppable regional empire, arming proxies across the Middle East, building missile arsenals, threatening all the Sunni countries, and openly calling for the destruction of both Israel and the United States.

But this regime represented something historically unusual in the Muslim world.

Shiite Muslims constitute a minority within Islam, while the overwhelming majority of the Muslim world is Sunni.

For years, Sunni governments quietly feared the rise of a revolutionary Shiite regime that sought to dominate the region through terror networks and ideological expansion.

That imbalance is now being corrected.

Through unprecedented cooperation between Israel and the United States, the military infrastructure of the Iranian regime is being dismantled piece by piece. Its aura of invincibility has been shattered.

The Shiite regime that once terrified the region now appears weakened, exposed and vulnerable. It is done.

The war is not over. But the strategic trajectory is becoming clear. The Sunni Muslims will return as the Muslim power to rule the Middle East

And that raises an important question for Israel itself, because Sunni Muslims also believe in jihad, persecuting all non-Muslims/infidels/kafirs, and taking over the world. Qatar and Turkey, two Muslim Brotherhood regimes, are the most influential Sunni countries pushing this agenda. And the whole fictitious “palestinian” national identity is the Trojan horse in Israel to destroy the Jewish state from within.

Military victory over Shiite Iran alone is not enough to protect us or the freedom-loving world from jihadi Muslims.

Israel must ensure that the strength displayed in this war is not squandered by a return to policies of appeasement, that ignores Muslim jihad and the true purpose of the cause called “palestine”.

For too many years, segments of Israel’s political, defense and cultural class embraced the illusion that concessions, negotiations and diplomatic gestures could tame forces that openly sought Israel’s destruction.

Those illusions are over.

Israel’s strength has never come merely from its military technology. It comes from something deeper: our national identity, our faith, and our historic purpose as a people returned to our ancestral homeland.

A sovereign Jewish state must act like one.

That means liberating all of our lands, defending it all decisively, resettling in all of it, strengthening Jewish life across it, and ensuring that those who seek peace and coexistence enjoy freedom and prosperity, while the jihadis who pursue violence and jihad are nowhere near us to threaten us.

The Middle East is entering a new era.

The illusions are being destroyed.

The challenge now is ensuring future leaders of Israel will have the wisdom and courage to build a future worthy of the victories being won today.

We in Israel are ready.

This war has been nothing short of miraculous. You can feel that the hand of God is watching over us. And yes, that does not mean there is no pain. Tragedy happens, and we mourn deeply for every life lost.

It is not easy to fully internalize, but had the horrific atrocities of Oct. 7 not happened, we would not be where we are today. In a painful and difficult way to grasp, even Oct. 7 must be seen as part of a greater unfolding miracle. Oct. 7th was meant to lead to the destruction of Israel, but instead awakened the Jewish nation and set into motion events that are strengthening us in ways we could not have imagined.

Iran planned to destroy us with their decades planned multi-front surprise attack. Instead, we survived. Even in the face of unimaginable brutality, the number of innocent Jews murdered on Oct. 7th, about 1,200, was far smaller than the ten million Israelis Iran planned on eliminating.

That reality presents a deep theological challenge, but it is also part of the truth we must include as part of the conversation.
