A nice Rheaboceras sp. from Cowley, Wyoming USA. I recreated the aperture. Quite a challenge to get colours and texture matching.

I polished two cretaseous #marcasites (pyrite nodules) from the chalk at #capblancnez #France I collected these while #fossilhunting. They become very pretty! Polishing #pyrite is a hell though. The black cutting water is very hard to clean up.

Play of colour in precious opal comes in 2 ways: the normal way and contra lux. In the last colour is created by light coming through the stone.
It happens more frequent when silica source is vulcanic ash.
