Bhekumzi Sandlana couldn’t proceed with his bail application. The state intends on opposing it and asked for a postponement due several factors including that they couldn’t verify his address, he has a pending criminal case, there was an alleged assault incident during his arrest which resulted in some officers being injured and hospitalised. The state wants to investigate some of these issues. His lawyer opposed this application but did not succeed. His case has been postponed to the 3rd of December. @Newzroom405

This follows an alleged R6million bribe she received from the fraud and murder accused Bhekimuzi Sandlana. Sandlana is allegedly still arguing and trying to stop his arrest from happening.

SIU NOTES HIGH COURT ORDER ON MATTER BY EASTERN CAPE PREMIER MABUYANE

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) notes the judgment from the High Court of South Africa, Eastern Cape Division, Bhisho, concerning Proclamation 84 of 2022, which relates, among others, to the investigation into the awarding of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Fort Hare.

The University of Fort Hare notes with concern the misrepresentation by some political and media organisations implying that SIU investigations into academic fraud at the institution have been halted following the Bhisho High Court order issued on 23 October 2025.

This reportage has generated confusion among media and the broader public. It is imperative that South Africans are furnished with accurate, complete and legally sound information regarding the status of the SIU’s work at UFH.

For clarity: the order (handed down by Acting Justice Mtshabe in Case 330/2023) is a delayed ruling relating solely to the original SI proclamation, in which the Presidency, the SIU and UFH were cited as respondents. 

Importantly, this ruling does not invalidate, suspend or limit the investigative mandate established under Proclamation 194 of 2024, which superseded Proclamation R.84 of 2022.

Assertions that the SIU process has been discontinued are therefore misleading in law. The October 2025 ruling pertains exclusively to the initial proclamation and has no legal effect on the amended proclamation issued in 2024.

The court’s ruling imposes no restriction whatsoever on the SIU’s authority to investigate and report on alleged irregularities concerning the registration, admission or awarding of qualifications to individuals who were not academically eligible, which occurred in the Public Administration Department at the UFH Bhisho campus.

BREAKING NEWS: Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane successfully managed to stop the investigation into his alleged fake degree from University of Fort Hare by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).
Mabuyane took the SIU to court to stop their investigation and judge agreed with him stating that the investigation is “unconstitutionally” and “an abuse” amongst others.
