After reading "Iggy Peck, Architect," NC State Elementary Education juniors applied the engineering design process and documented their ideas in engineering notebooks as they worked to build the tallest tower using only index cards.
A few more Paper Runs! Sometimes our runs didnβt work, so we had to go back to the design stage. This was a good reminder on how to learn from our mistakes. @EphesusElem
We created paper ball runs with only paper and tape for our force and motion unit. Our goal was to make our ping pong ball move as slowly as possible. The slowest time was 15 seconds! This STEM activity was a great lesson in perseverance too. @EphesusElem
We celebrated Pi day with fractions and art. Our Pi day artwork is made only from circles! We were able to create smaller fractions like Β½, ΒΌ, and β by cutting and folding our circles. @EphesusElem
Sneak peak of our 3-D Human Body System models! We used items such as paper towel rolls, yarn, cotton balls, straws, balloons, and plastic bottles to make the different parts of each body system. @EphesusElem
We integrated information from several texts in order to create projects about biomes from around the world. We chose to share our information either through a poster or a google slides presentation. @EESDLandT@EphesusElem
We have been working hard on our Marine Ecosystem Food Webs! We learned about the interdependence of plants and animals within their ecosystems. We also learned about negative human impact and how the removal of one species can change an entire food web. @EphesusElem
We worked in partners to tackle the math question "how can we figure out the volume of several boxes when we don't have enough cubes?" We came up with different strategies to determine how many units were needed to fill each box. @EphesusElem
