Hello! We're the SWEAR (Spoken Word Educators & Academic Researchers) network, an international association of poets, critics, researchers, educators, organisers, and academics who wish to advance performance poetry in higher education. We were founded in March 2020.
🎉🎉 Yes! We absolutely want ideas from all over the UK. You still have time to think about the panel/paper/presentation/performance you might want to contribute, but May 8th (the deadline) will be upon us sooner than you think. #AllBordersBlur

We're hugely stoked to say that the CFP for 'All Borders Blur' is now live! 🎉🎊

Enjoyed listening to @Lucyenglish1@jsamlarose @beveryquiet @PeteTheTemp and the range of perspectives in the room at our @swearnetwork panel discussion. Thank you to all who came along and contributed, there's energy and ideas to build on from this
What is the role of the poet? Where do we now go now? This year, we're proud to host #SWEAR (Spoken Word Educators & Academic Researchers) for a panel discussion & performances from the UK's leading poetry educators: Lucy English, Jacob Sam-La Rose, Bohdan Piasecki & Ellen Moran.
This is the first year the @ForwardPrizes has had a category specifically for Best Performed Poem. This is a wonderful opportunity for Spoken Word Poets to be recognised for their work!
Submissions are open until the 5th of March!

We're planning a colossal gig this summer and we'd be really keen to know who is on your 'must see' list for performers. They can be state-side or UK-based, musician, rapper, poet/spoken word. Pop a comment below and let's see if we can make some magic ✨
We'll be sharing a lot of #BlackBox content over the next weeks, it's a project between us and @esa_learning that brings together media students and poets - emerging and established - to create spoken word content. Learning from each other, we can build each other up #ThisIsAPoet
It's #IASILPostgrad day - I'm working on Irish spoken word poetry with an event-based approach to performance and a focus on concepts of voice. My number one tip: find the joy and excitement in your research and return to your materials again and again!
Exploring the power of poetry for social change - a powerful day of conversation with an amazing group of poets, activists, curators and academics @SWEARNetwork#poetrycommunity
I'm in Coventry at @warwickuni today for a workshop/conference on spoken word!
We'll be discussing the potential of SW to empower communities & provoke social change (and complicating these ideas, too). More on the project: https://t.co/u5RinMlKAi #poetry#spokenword
As we put #Jawdance to bed for this year, we thought we'd share with you a video which many of you are probably familiar with. Call it #ThrowBackThursday, here's 'A Short History of Spoken Word Poetry'. Does it resonate with you? #ThisIsAPoet

Ever think 'Gee, it'd be handy to have a list of all the poetry/spoken word events happening in the UK this month?' @BexPoet has you covered!
Each month they compile 100+ events into one handy list, organised geographically. Here's December! https://t.co/2AN9eiZ25p
