AI Leadership: One day AI is going to take everyone’s jobs. In the meantime, we’re building data centers that are using up all your resources to facilitate that change. Oh btw, we’re taking all your information to train our AI.
I wonder why that approach isn’t working?
The backlash against data centers is directly the fault of AI leadership.
Too many folks have been out there telling scary bedtime stories for years and even when they try to counter it with an upbeat take or essay, it doesn't matter because that's not how media and human nature works.
Media runs on fear. People remember fear.
Any basically competent PR person could have told them this and but when you think you're smarter than everyone you don't bother with listening.
This is the chickens coming home to roost.
And this is much bigger than AI. The entire US economy is one big bet on AI.
Before that it was the internet. Before that cars. Go back to Roman times and its spice and shipbuilding. On and on and on. The most successful cultures are technology powerhouses.
Hate AI?
Okay.
Then just know you hate old people's pension funds and your retirement fund because your funds are invested there whether you know it or not.
You hate data centers?
Then you hate mRNA cancer vaccines and jobs for electricians and construction jobs and local tax revenue and profitable local communities and quality of life, even if you don't think you do.
It's all a ripple effect. Butterflies starting typhoons.
Cultures turn on technology. Economies race ahead and quality of life improves when we're building things.
And when we turn against it, we reap the whirlwind.
Unpopular opinion but not every Versez needs a blood feud attached to it. Regardless how Donell sounded it was still presented as a celebration of catalogs. And that’s fine!!
Let’s be real.
AJ did not leave Philly, nor did he want to leave.
He gave the Eagles plenty of time to unload Jalen Hurts, which the Eagles supposedly preferred to do, but because of his contract, they couldn’t move Hurts at the time.
