We only learned this because we had an autopsy performed. Aortic dissection isn't the first thing that springs to a doctor's mind when a patient presents with symptoms that also point to a cardiac arrest.

I wish I'd known what to look for. But, I'm a writer, not a doctor.

Two years ago, I took the love of my life -- James Rocchi to the hospital. He died hours later, around 4:30 AM. One thing most people don't know is that he did not die from a heart attack, as was assumed and reported at the time.

He died from an aortic dissection. 1/
