Ideally, our critiques and engagement with a work should exist in a vacuum. I don’t care what the “hype” is. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I care how I feel. I care about how I connect to the work. Any other way is a disservice to yourself and the work.

Lovely and devastating. Julia Hart has such a deft hand, and the film balances the line between earnest and maudlin really well. The cast is so good, and it’s ultimately a warm (but sad!) hug of a movie. Centering it around Waitress, a musical I adore, is special. I sobbed.
