Build it and they will come... the Oasis opened OTD, 50 yrs ago πββοΈ Broome Manor GC soon after. By the 80s, Swindon was the fastest expanding town in Europe with blue chip companies eager to invest in that energy & vision. Even STFC reached Div 1. Shame we wasted it...

George Best
Died on this day, 20 years ago... and here's his connections to #Swindon and #stfc.

For all those who love their #stfc or just #Swindon history.... this is a fantastic BBC documentary from 1963. Well worth a watch... π

From Eastcott Hill to Breakfast in America & pouring sugar all over the good old Evening Adver... we pay tribute to #Swindon's Rick Davies....

Sad to hear the passing of Mike Bowden, seen here with our #stfc and speedway legends. All round great bloke who helped us borrow the League Cup trophy from Chelsea for these pictures back in 2007. We need more 'can doers' these days than ever before.
@AJROSCO
The incompetence of #stfc knows no bounds. Total disregard for fans (ie) customers after zero update in the last 24 hours. A club dead from the neck up.
There was a time when #Swindon was the home of the railways. Brunel was almost the Elon Musk of his day - a legacy that lasted over 100 years. Generations of engineers learnt their trade here and the car industry arrived as a result. Sadly, we're now the home of the warehouse.
#OnThisDay in #Swindon history - 2002 - The Great Western Hospital at Commonhead was officially opened. The 550,000 square feet building cost Β£132 million. Happy 22nd birthday @GWH_NHS
What's that?
@Official_STFC and @TrustSTFC have used the wrong picture in today's programme?
Would that be QPR winning the League Cup? And not #STFC's finest hour in 1969?
FFS - just so so typical of the lack of pride, care and professionalism at #STFC. On top of defeat vs 24th
