I just finished watching this and I'm angry. I'm disgusted, disappointed and heartbroken. Regardless of the legal outcome, the events described and the culture surrounding them are deeply disturbing. My heart goes out to E.M. for enduring years of scrutiny, public attention, and personal attacks.
What I struggle with is how the NHL continues to talk about "changing the culture" while fans are left wondering what accountability actually looks like. When the league says it is committed to respect, safety, and progress, those values should mean more than words. Clearly, they don't.
Watching the players in this case continue their careers while so many questions remain leaves a bitter taste. You don't have to agree with me, but as a fan who loves this sport, I believe hockey still has a long way to go in confronting the attitudes and behaviors that have damaged trust in the game.
The NHL says it wants to "change the culture" Change isn't measured by press releases, it's measured by actions.
Schedule release day so letโs run it back!
