President Dallin H. Oaks delivered a landmark address on religious freedom Wednesday at Washington National Cathedral, pointing to the United States Constitution as a key tool for peacemaking and finding common ground.

“The Constitution compels a divided people to build coalitions to allow them to act together,” said President @OaksDallinH, who has spent seven decades studying the Constitution as a scholar, jurist and religious leader. “‘Compels’ is a strong word, but it is exactly what the Constitution does. It puts what we now call ‘peacemaking’ at the heart of the Constitution’s process for achieving freedom and unity, and fairness for all.”

His remarks are the first by a Church President at Washington National Cathedral, a “house of prayer for all people,” and came on the eve of the country’s Constitution Day. The event, titled “Faith, Freedom and the Common Good,” explored the relationship between religious faith and American democracy. The gathering was part of the cathedral’s “A Better Way” series, which encourages Americans to find common ground and move forward together in polarized times.

President Oaks said he was participating in the effort to help “embody the love of God in public life,” offering “hope for unity and a moral framework to move forward in a divided world.”

More drugs? She had those.

Our language and vocabulary around all things reproduction is so terrible once you really think about it.

Birth control. How dystopian.

Use protection. Use protection against what exactly? Who do we need to protect ourselves from? Our future children that are some sort of evil criminals? Protection? From what? Who?

Pregnancy scare. The idea that the existence of another human being is so sort of reason to be frightened

Safe sex. Aka deliberately infertile sex as if fertility is the thing that makes sex unsafe

Birth control failed. Failed to do what? Allow the body to the one of the most natural biological tasks?

Unwanted pregnancy? An action whose entire basic biological purpose is reproductive produces reproduction and we call it unwanted, an accident.

Terminate the pregnancy. Oh it’s not big deal we’re just terminating the contract a lil bit earlier ya know. Really no big deal here. Not like a human life is ended or anything really.

Products of conception. What’s that exactly?

Family planning. So funny when it usually just means we are planning on limiting any family.

And mind you. I’m also guilty of using many of these terms. They are so imbedded into our every day lives that most of us never stop to really think about what they mean. But maybe we should.

Language is not just a way to describe what we are thinking, it is also the way we think. Nearly every single word we use for fertility, for pregancy and for children are all words that point to fear, failure, accident, inconvenience. So is it really that surprising that children are now seen the way they are? Is it really that surprising that we do not cherish our children? Is it really that shocking that children have become second class citizens?

We don’t even talk about dogs like this.

ELDER BEDNAR JUST EXPLAINED THE CHURCH’S NEW SACRAMENT CHANGES… AGAIN🔥

The Church has shortened Sunday classes to just 25 minutes.

You might assume that means teachers now need to move faster, cut discussion, and squeeze as much material as possible into every minute.

But Elder David A. Bednar just taught almost the opposite:

Don’t rush.

During the September 13 Utah Area YSA devotional at the BYU Marriott Center, Elder Bednar didn’t give a conventional talk. Instead, he brought young adults onto the stage, opened the scriptures, asked questions, allowed silence, and let them discover spiritual patterns for themselves.

Then near the end he said something that puts the entire experience into context:

“We have a pattern now for learning on the Sabbath day in shorter time periods.”

That line completely changed how I see these changes.

This is not simply about cutting class time.

It is about changing how we learn from God.

And there is an important sacrament connection here.

When Elder Bednar previously explained the new Sunday pattern, he emphasized that we cannot expect the Church to provide everything we need spiritually. We are expected to study throughout the week, receive revelation personally, and come to Church prepared.

But we are not just preparing to participate in a class.

We are preparing to partake of the sacrament. 🙏

We come having already prayed, studied, repented, listened to the Holy Ghost, and walked with Christ throughout the week. Then we renew our covenants and continue learning together.

One of the most fascinating parts of this devotional was watching what Elder Bednar did when people asked him direct questions.

He didn’t always simply give them the answer.

Sometimes he redirected the question. Sometimes he let another person respond. Sometimes he allowed silence.

Why?

Because the Apostle was demonstrating something profound:

The goal is not merely to receive answers from a teacher. It is to learn how to receive revelation from God.

Sister Bednar even shared a powerful experience from years ago at Ricks College where she learned that sometimes the answer does not come before we act.

Sometimes we step forward in faith—and the Lord gives us what we need as we go.

“Go ye.”

Open your mouth.

Trust the Lord.

And perhaps that is exactly what these changes are asking of us.

Elder Bednar ended with a powerful testimony that the Restoration is ongoing and will continue until Jesus Christ comes again.

I believe that Restoration is glorious and ongoing.

And I believe Christ is inviting us into a closer relationship with Him—to hear His voice more clearly, receive revelation personally, and come to the sacrament already walking with Him.

The newly unveiled statue of Charlie Kirk that was vandalized over the weekend was sculpted by a 35-year-old Utah high school teacher, Quintin McCann.

The BYU grad told me he discovered the monument had been defaced while sitting in church on Sunday. “I’m still in disbelief that someone would actually do that."

As a long-time listener of Kirk, McCann started the initial version of the sculpture the day Kirk was assassinated just across the lake from where he works.

A photo of the bust McCann made came to the attention of Turning Point Action COO Tyler Bowyer who asked him to make a full sculpture for the anniversary.

After mentoring with a well-known Latter-day Saint artist on building multiple statues for Temple Square, McCann felt ready to accept a project of this size.

“I personally am a big fan of Charlie and I was worried someone who might have more sculpting experience might not put as much heart into it as I was willing to give.”

🚨#BREAKING: Outrage is erupting after a mob of Black "teens" dragged a White female college student off her own porch BY HER HAIR, dragged her to a stop sign, and then beat her UNCONSCIOUS... TWICE...

...while a crowd stood around FILMING it!!!

The girls called 911 **FIVE TIMES** that night, but police didn't show up until AFTER the beating was over.

This happened near York College in Pennsylvania.

A group of students, young White women, were on the porch of their off-campus house when a stranger walked up and picked a fight and a mob of Black "teens" rushed them.

One of the girls was ripped off the porch by her hair, dragged to a stop sign, then roughly a dozen people jumped her at once, kicking and punching her from every angle while a crowd of up to 30 encircled her.

She blacked out TWICE... once from a kick to the ribs and again from a blow to the back of the head.

And the whole time, she says, people were recording it on their phones and laughing... filming her get beaten unconscious for entertainment.

Her friends were dragged down the steps by their hair too. One was already in a knee brace, recovering from an injury.

The girls say they called 911 FIVE separate times.

The first calls went out BEFORE the violence even started, when a crowd was gathering and cars were street racing so recklessly that one of them smashed into a parked car next to the firehouse.

Five calls. They were told each time that officers were coming. Officers didn't arrive until it was over.

Students say this isn't new and that large crowds gather there constantly, and that another student was attacked just two weeks earlier by what they believe is the same group of non-students.

"The cops haven't done anything to protect us, and campus safety hasn't done anything. It feels like they're scared to get involved with 'these' people, but then it puts us at risk when they're doing nothing."
