Obsession is a really smart movie, with a lot of really cool scares.
And it dips into many different facets of horror like the Uncanny Valley, Monkey’s Paw and borderline Cosmic Horror. Whilst doing a great job blending fantastical elements with horror that is eerily relatable.
I genuinely don't understand this, and not even on a contrarian hater level (movie's pretty good) but on a "there have been countless bleak horror movies from emerging auteurs in the past decade, what the fuck is this one doing that's putting it in another stratosphere" level
I think this poetically captures what Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is.
A hollowed-out spectacle that cares more about being an IMAX tech demo than an authentic adaptation of The Odyssey.
@AHighwalker@trevorbaxendale M dies because Bond, Q and the new M are idiots. Bond gives up trying to help someone incredibly tragic and in desperate need. M and Bond’s poor decision making get several people killed. And the film doesn’t recognise any of this. Amongst many other issues…
@LambentLucien Been a problem for well over a decade now, unfortunately. But has only gotten worse.
It’s amazing how many will say they’re fans of film, but can’t tell you anything insightful about the films they watch. They just parrot what other people say or spout gibberish.
Describing Fallout as “the Skyfall of Mission Impossible” hurts on levels unfathomable.
Do not equate one of the best & tightest action films ever to pretentious gunk that assassinates its characters, bleeds plot issues & poorly reheats GoldenEye’s nachos, amongst other sins.
Yes. Absolutely!
The film where Bond, Q and New M get the Old M killed because they’re idiots who allow an idiot ‘Home Alone but worse’ plan is definitely the “greatest James Bond movie.”
I’m my opinion, the greatest James Bond movie is Skyfall. It took the franchise into deeper and darker dimensions. What do you think is the greatest James Bond film ever made?
Nah, we should get more films like Minus One & Shin Godzilla instead of MonsterVerse slop.
Also, Minus One & Shin aren’t the same and if you get bored of them, that’s your problem. They’ve done way more innovative things with their premises than the MV. Minus One in particular.
Toho elitists need to understand that if every Godzilla was like Minus One or Shin Godzilla people would get bored and stop watching them. A franchise can't just keep doing the same thing over and over.
Having variety is amazing and the Monsterverse gives said variety.
Sincere adventure storytelling with interesting and nuanced things to say made by interesting filmmakers, versus corny, shallow slop made by a one-trick pony.
@CopaExMachina Javier Bardem gave one of the greatest villain performances in film…
And then dedicated much of the rest of his career failing to be as good as another all-time villain performance that came out a year later.
@CopaExMachina Can’t take anyone seriously that says “Skyfall is the best James Bond movie”.
You did not pay attention to that movie. It’s awful.
Not surprised it’s a favourite of the gimmick accounts who have nothing interesting or insightful to say.
I finally finished all of House MD.
Brilliant! We’re just not getting a character this absurdly funny, yet tragically nuanced ever again.
Also, I would like to Thank this post for sending me down this insane, emotionally damaging rabbit hole.
Life is pain and everybody dies.
@SpyHards I adore Sicario and I want to see Tinker Tailor.
However, Fallout is One of the Best Action Movies in General.
It’s quite an easy choice. But shoutout to Sicario. Glad you decided to put that one on here.
