The hypocrisy of Democrats and Voter ID:
When Massachusetts began issuing driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants on July 1, 2023, under the Work and Family Mobility Act, it changed what a driver’s license meant.
A Massachusetts license no longer proved citizenship.
I saw the consequence firsthand. My mother — born in Massachusetts, over 90 years old, a taxpayer, wife, mother of three, churchgoer, school graduate, and lifelong resident — still had to go through the state archive process to retrieve her birth certificate just to prove who she was.
Why? Because Democrats supported laws that blurred the line between citizen and non-citizen identification.
They were perfectly willing to impose that burden on ordinary Americans. But now, when most Americans want proof of citizenship to vote, suddenly Democrats call that unreasonable, extreme, or unnecessary.
That is the hypocrisy.
They created the problem, forced citizens to prove themselves in basic daily life, then object when voters ask for the same standard to protect elections.
That is not compassion. That is political dishonesty.
