A 16-year-old Muslim girl is considered “progressive” when she stars in a film that stereotypes her own community, portrays a Muslim father as abusive, and has her character remove her hijab.
But when she becomes an adult, leaves Bollywood, and chooses to wear the hijab in real life, she is suddenly called “brainwashed.”
Apparently, her choices are only celebrated when they align with their worldview.
UP Police has raided Junaid’s house and taken his father and minor brother into custody.
They are threatening Junaid to return from Delhi or else they will not release his father.
They also raided his sister’s house and arrested her father-in-law and brother-in-law.
This is exactly why we were against Muslims joining the protest from day one.
Now I will hold accountable everyone who was provoking and encouraging Muslims to take part in it.

Almost 6 months ago, I met with the family of deceased Junaid. A resident of Ghatmika village in Rajasthan, young Junaid was brutally lynched and burnt by cow vigilante last year in Rajasthan. He is survived by 4 sons and a daughter (one of his 14 yrs old daughter died after illness, primarily due to the stress of her father’s loss). We soon started rehabilitation works with the family. In due course, we were able to opne a shop for Junaid’s wife and enrolled 2 of his sons to a boarding school nearbly.
Today, I was talking to Sajida, Junaid’s wife , about the shop project. An overwhelmed Sajida told me about her recent meeting with kids at school and how they are studying well there. The shop is also running good and she is able to earn a decent income from there. MashaAllah, her happiness is indeed a reward for everyone who helped us in establishing this shop and extend educational support to the kids.
Similarly, we have hundred other kids at Shaagird, who survived violence & mob lynching and needs sponsorship for their education. Everyone of us can sponsor one such kid for their education. This way, we can perhaps give them the greatest gift, the gift of education.

It has been 15 years since the bomb blast at Makkah Masjid that took away 9 lives and injured 60 worshippers on May 18, 2007, but justice remains to be served to the families of the victims and survivors.
