The Peace & Justice Network Pakistan - PJN Team of Human Rights & Justice Lawyers, along with representatives from the National Secretariat, held a very productive meeting with the Cabinet and members of the #Quetta Bar Association and the #Balochistan High Court Bar Association.

The meeting focused on strengthening access to justice, human rights protection, and the rule of law in Balochistan, while exploring opportunities for greater collaboration between the legal community and civil society.

He Was Waiting for Someone to Come Back.

Among the 14 innocent lives lost in the tragic fire at PIMS was a newborn baby who had been left at the hospital by his parents shortly after birth. For two months, he remained there and they never returned to claim him. He was fed and clothed through donations, living in the nursery alongside sick babies.

He had no voice to call for help.
No parent beside him.
No one to hold him when the flames came.

Just a tiny, innocent life who deserved to be protected. His story must not be forgotten. @SyedRazaAli

اسلام آباد کے پمز گائنی وارڈ میں آگ لگنے سے 14 نومولود بچوں کی ہلاکت ایک انتہائی افسوسناک سانحہ ہے، جو سنگین مجرمانہ غفلت کے سوالات اٹھاتا ہے۔ ذمہ داران کے خلاف کارروائی اور مؤثر احتساب ہونا چاہیے۔ اب مزید ایسی انکوائریاں نہیں ہونی چاہئیں جن کا کوئی نتیجہ نہ نکلے۔

یہ امر بھی افسوسناک ہے کہ ہمارا میڈیا اس سانحے کو محض ایک اور واقعے کے طور پر رپورٹ کر رہا ہے، بجائے اس کے کہ سوالات اٹھائے جائیں اور ذمہ داروں کا احتساب یقینی بنانے کا مطالبہ کیا جائے۔

ہم اپنے نظامِ انصاف، میڈیا اور احتساب کے نظام کو کمزور کر رہے ہیں، اور پھر حیران ہوتے ہیں کہ ایسے سانحات روز کیوں پیش آتے ہیں۔

فیصلہ سازوں کو سمجھنا ہوگا کہ یہ صرف ایک واقعہ نہیں۔ یہ پاکستان کی حیثیت اور مستقبل کو متاثر کر رہا ہے۔

#PJNinSindh #GrassrootsJusticeImpact Today, CEO PJN Pakistan Syed Raza Ali along with our member organization from Karachi, Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), CEO Advocate Altaf Khoso and his team, we visited the Central Prison Correctional Facility for Women & Youth Offenders, Karachi.

The visit provided an opportunity to engage with prison authorities, observe rehabilitation and correctional initiatives, and discuss the importance of strengthening access to justice, legal aid, and rehabilitation for incarcerated women and young offenders.

During the visit, we reviewed the impactful programs being implemented by Legal Aid PLUS, which are equipping inmates with practical skills, restoring hope, and preparing them for successful reintegration into society. It was inspiring to witness the organization's commitment to rehabilitation through a holistic approach that includes mental health and psychological support, sports activities, Solar PV training, fine arts, graphic designing courses, and music classes.

It was equally encouraging to see Legal Aid PLUS providing nationally certified vocational training in collaboration with NAVTTC and the Government of Sindh, alongside free legal aid services, enabling prisoners to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence, and employable skills.

It is important to recognize and celebrate the remarkable work being carried out by #PJNPakistan network organizations across Pakistan. Their dedication demonstrates how civil society can strengthen access to justice, protect human rights, and create pathways for rehabilitation and social reintegration.

A big shout-out to the entire Legal Aid #PLUS team for their outstanding commitment to transforming lives and making justice more accessible. Keep up the excellent work! 👏👏👏

PJN Pakistan national secretariat office participated in the consultative meeting on the Draft Law on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (#TFGBV) organized by the National Commission on the Status of Women (#NCSW), led by Ms. Humaira Zia Mufti, Secretary NCSW.

While presenting the #PJNPakistan assessment, emphasized the urgent need for a dedicated and responsive mechanism, backed by a strong legal and justice framework, to effectively prevent, report, and address #TFGBV. The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (#PECA), due to its current operational and response design framework, is not fully equipped to effectively address cases specifically related to technology-facilitated gender-based violence.

Strengthening legal protections, ensuring accountability for perpetrators, and creating accessible reporting and support systems are essential steps to safeguard women’s rights and dignity in digital spaces.
