We encourage you to stop and take a moment to learn about why different books have been banned, challenged, or restricted, and what it would mean to you to not have been able to read them.
Book challenges have increased sharply in recent years. According to the American Library Association, reported challenges rose dramatically beginning in 2021, with thousands of titles targeted annually (American Library Association, 2024).
On this display, you will find not only books that have been banned or challenged in various places and contexts throughout history, but also information on why those books were banned or challenged.
Tickets are $10.50, available at the library in advance, or at the door after 6:00 p.m.
The movie begins at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

2. Contact your Government Officials
Sending a letter or email to your elected officials is one of the most effective ways to be heard. Write, call, or email the Premier of Alberta, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and your local MLA to express your concerns.
The Coalition of Alberta Public Libraries (CAP Libraries) is strongly opposed to the proposed Bill 28 , because it undermines free speech and expression, local decision-making, and the privacy of Albertans.
Here's how you can help:
1. Send a Digital Postcard
Send a pre-written message with @CAPLibraries Digital Postcard tool. Simply fill in your name and address and the postcard will go to the appropriate government officials.
