New paper for the lab!
"Functional effects of haemoglobin can be rescued by haptoglobin in an in vitro model of subarachnoid haemorrhage." #JNeurochem Thanks to all authors for the great team effort @WarmingHannah@KatrinDeinhardt#patchclamp
@ElenaRF@josefagbom@Tracy_Henning27@UWTSD Congratulations!!! ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฌ๐ง How are you going to celebrate? This year in Sept will be my very own 24+24 and I'm thinking of ideas!?
Congratulations Hannah Warming on passing your PhD viva ๐๐๐ Thanks to examiners Vincent O'Connor and Adrian Parry-Jones and co-supervisors Ian Galea and Diederik Bulters. Grateful to Kerkut Trust and Institute for Life Sciences @WarmingHannah ๐๐๐
Congratulations Lauren McNicholas on passing your PhD viva ๐๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ. Thanks to @KatrinDeinhardt for co-supervising, Ole Paulsen and Salah Elias for being examiners.#electrophysiology@LaurenMcN1 @OlePaulsen2 @theeliaslab
Iโm excited to announce that I have 2 fully funded, 3.5 year PhD studentships to join my lab next year. Please take a look if you fancy some neuroepigenetics fun on the south coast! @unisouthampton@sotonbiosci Details below
@EBrookesNeuro@SouthamptonCC@alanwhiteheadmp I hope this gets resolved immediately for you. Itโs hard enough to move, start a new research group and wait so long for a school place.
A new paper from our lab reveals the effect of gain- and loss-of-function GluN2B mutations on synaptic function. The differences in NMDA-EPSCs mediated by synaptic GluN1/2B mutants are lost when the mutated subunits assemble with GluN2A into triheteromers

Co-led with @OlePaulsen2. Following on from key papers published by Ole's lab including work by @KohlLab showing that CA1 synapses with left CA3 input have a higher proportion of GluN2B-NMDARs and are more plastic. Fantastic work by co-authors Olivia Shipton and Clara Tang.
Thrilled to share our new paper! Our results suggest that hippocampal CA3โCA1 synapses with presynaptic axon originating in the left CA3 are selectively vulnerable to Aฮฒ and that a genetic knock out of tau protein protects them. https://t.co/OsdH438u4M
@josefagbom@Embamexru@InovaUK What a pleasure to visit the Mexican embassy and meet amazing women including the ambassador Josefa Gonzรกlez Blanco. Motivating, inspiring and empowering girls and women in #STEMโฆ Iโm in!
