What I gleamed from the wording is that you can take 1d6 necrotic to gain the ability to deal an additional 2d6 necrotic on an attack one time within the next hour, since taking the 1d6 necrotic gives you a boon that lasts for 1 hour or "until it is expended," (1/2)
