What horrifies me is the silence of some mothers when they have children of their own, but can't speak out on this.
Look at the way she's holding on to her martyred child. Silence is unforgivable here.
children celebrating the start of ramadan in gaza :)
putting this on your timeline because it is so important to humanize palestinians. they’re not just numbers on your screen, these are REAL people.
@danderson711 @ApexJones22 @Jumpshot8 Don't be surprised Darren.
This is when I was arguing with him years ago, calling him out on being on Bron's payroll.
Nothing worse then being a sellout
These are some of the children I met in Gaza a few years ago. They liked to learn, draw & play.
I have been thinking of these children, clinging to the hope they are still alive.
Do their dreams not matter? Don’t they laugh & cry like other children? Don’t they deserve to live?
"How's the night in Gaza, Yara?"
"Not beautiful."
"Why?"
"The situation is very scary."
This is Yara from Gaza, she wants a ceasefire.
Ceasefire now in Gaza.
You should be ashamed of yourself!
Do you want to be remembered as a hate-mongering pseudo-academic?
Would you take one of your students seriously if they cited (and misread!) a Wikipedia article?
Let me unpack your nonsense for you:
1. Banu Qurayza were one of many tribes. Not all of the tribes were killed.
2. It was not a massacre. It was a legal punishment due to their treachery and war crime. They wanted to annihilate the Medinan community. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had an agreement of protection with the Jews of Medina and both parties were bound to support each other in war (see below the Treaty of Medina; point 4). It was also stipulated in the treaty that if anyone from among them commits an outrage or is guilty of a crime, he shall deserve the relevant punishment for their crime. Banu Qurayza not only betrayed the Muslims during the battle of the Ditch, they almost annihilated the Prophet ﷺ with his followers. The punishment was inflicted on their men of fighting age due this treachery, which they agreed to by being a party to the treaty. Other Jewish tribes (mentioned in the treaty below; point 4) were not touched and flourished in Medina.
3. The key point is: They were not killed because they were Jewish. This is a shameful omission from you!
4. Jews were treated fairly and compassionately. For example see the treaty of Medina, articulated by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself:
"It is incumbent on all the Muslims to help and extend sympathetic treatment to the Jews who have entered into an agreement with us. Neither an oppression of any type should be perpetrated on them nor should their enemy be helped against them.
... Excepting the religious matters, the Muslims and the Jews shall be regarded as belonging to a single party. If anyone from among them commits an outrage or breaks promise or is guilty of a crime, he shall deserve punishment of his crime."¹
5. It is well-known that Jews were generally welcomed and lived in peace and justice under Islamic rule, for example:
Benjamin of Tudela, a Spanish Jew who travelled to Baghdad in 1168, described the situation of the Iraqi Jewry in these words:
"In Baghdad there are about forty thousand Jews, and they dwell in security, prosperity, and honour under the great Caliph [al-Mustanjid, 1160-70 CE], and amongst them are great sages, the Heads of the Academies engaged in the study of the Law…"²
There is more to say about this, however this should suffice. If you need further information or clarity please do not hesitate to reach out.
