Nigerians in Poverty - “Poverty is not an accident. Like slavery & apartheid, it is man-made & can be removed by the actions of human beings.” Nelson Mandela
@aonanuga1956 Laudable - unsure if this carries any meaning
Justification & pursuit of eliminating waste, removing inefficiencies, or tackling leakages typically carries measures or quantifiable items for savings or gains to add value elsewhere.
Set spend & cost limits than arbitrary numbers
@ThatIsokoLawyer@MusaRimaye We cannot have laws, rules & regulations for each & every possible breach or break of law or conduct.
This reduces for 'folks' presenting themselves as champions of ideals, standards & elevate what should be threshold for all.
Probity.
The absence cascades to roots & branches.
@ThatIsokoLawyer Shock & incredulity responses are typical & why reoccurrence carries a greater probability of happening.
There have been no deterrent previously of note, nor recent or likely soon.
Issue is not the breach, rather, the failing in screening, and post discovery prosecution or bar.
@kakra68 Re handouts & disbursement
Why public funds are not channelled directly into businesses, industries, factories or organisations ie employers to keep production levels, reduce prices, create more jobs, products & value into the economy to drive commerce for more taxes & revenues?
@FinPlanKaluAja1 Skewed, and worse, the interpretation.
Take 2001 to 2002, and the increase or growth from appx 6% to 15%. What drove this, and then halved the growth in 2003? Curiously, you omitted the overnight doubling of the economy without 1 job, 1 factory or industry created in 04-2014.
@FinPlanKaluAja1 Re states, maybe there needs to be rules to 'deficit budget & shortfall funding' approaches. Debt or repayment may fall outside the term of Gov or admin that entered into the agreement. If the bulk of repayment is not satisfied in term, obligation passes, & limits incoming admin.
@FinPlanKaluAja1 774 lens not helping. Absence of State & LG efficiency savings, standards, reforms & path to common services template by Gov forums. Why r LG chairpersons not engaging each other to agree or share successful delivery models to adopt?
Why reinvent the same issues each 4yrs as new
@FinPlanKaluAja1 Thus far, the sole pursuit & approach to addressing this seems to be the 'hedging' approach against future income or rise in income. Will this drive sufficient Local production in States to generate Taxes to repay & gift balanced budget (not deficit) onwards? This is the unknown.
@FinPlanKaluAja1 1 kobo opinion. We created & defined States not on Economic, Density, Commercial or Industrial basis, rather emotive & primodial basis which led to several insolvent States with some States now as the largest provider & employer of labour and exposes the flaw in approach adopted.
@FinPlanKaluAja1 Context
Budgets should be balanced. Spend (capacity) = Income + Borrowing.
Like several States, Abia is unable to present a balanced budget.
Ways to fund the shortfall & meet the spend is issue. Several routes available, however, with public finance, there are limits & rules.
HIGHLIGHT OF YEAR: This Guy was removed from a WhatsApp group, he went and got a court order to be added back. They added him back and made him administrator then one by one left the group and created a new one. He is now heading back to court to get the members back on his WhatsApp group like the beginning.
@RetsonTedheke01@ThatIsokoLawyer Inflation & high recurrent cost are offsetting benefits of subsidy ending. Unclear when, where & sectors to grow jobs & generate more tax revenue, and possibly FX. How will the Naira appreciate or drop to rate touted without sustained growth, expansion, new income or debt relief?
@IsuphJt@ishakaa@IMFNews@WorldBank@aonanuga1956@Rotankwot@BBoason Are the (previous) capital imports for production or manufacturing?also, Long or short investments? And which sectors? Likely, the areas or businesses are either saturated or further investment, and levels now lower. Why is the key question? Policy, Demand, Margin, Competition or
@sarnchos Worsen with subsidy now ended, thought the opposite.
Hopefully, CBN will issue a letter addressing unease or fears.
Any additional borrowing loads, currency value interventions, no increase in production & no reduction in governance costs places more pressure on Naira & value.
@olaleye_segun82@Mansaah_Musa@OpeBee A good to-do. Circular argument I think? Shortage of FG FX vs. value of Naira differ in my view. Which is being 'stabilised', and to what purpose? What will back & maintain the Naira (value) vs. setting a rate that is weighted against a reserve currency is key & cutover duration.
@OpeBee Think you should read my post, I make no such assertion, rather asking following your post, and original.
Question is stabilisation poser which you replied to. How or what do you see as attainable, and means to achieve. Kindly explain.
Have shared my posts on the conversation.
@OpeBee What are we currently producing now or can import subsitute that can grow to meet higher demand, cost of production & price & generate FG tax?
Which products, sectors, markets or industries can ramp up without incurring high capital costs or build duration & mature by Dec 2024?
@MRBRIKILA1 Commendable seeing engagement from the younger generations.
Certainly, a catch 22 problem as the fixers (politicians) for solution & problem come from within us, and are repeatedly voted by us despite the worsening state. What influences/sustains this? Is it system, us or what?
@OpeBee Value of a currency favours short or long-term stance. Investors (type), and particularly external seek profit exit, and a return on investment against external currency, not Naira.
FG clarity needed on the sectors cited for growth & business folks will assess viability & choose
