I've dived into self development too. Meditation retreats etc. For me, peace and contentment are just launchpads. They can anchor you will to do more. For example, contentment can lead to acceptance. Acceptance can help you digest reality and move into action. No state needs to be a trap for complacency. How you apply or interpret a state seems to matter. Seen some hard core ceos adopt a meditation practice, apply the thinking of the greats, and go out into the world far more grounded, composed and energized.
