Hellraiser: Revival's devs wanted it to get banned.
"When we were making the game early on, we kind of always talked about the fact that we wanted to get banned in at least one country or one platform or something." (Narrative director Antony de Fault).
Here's what the devs told PCGamesN
Too extreme for YouTube
Some trailers last up to 24 hours on YouTube channels before getting "shadowbanned".
The game has been turned away from some events for being "too out there"
Game director Emil Esov: "That to me means that it's too Hellraiser, which means it's just right".
Banned anywhere?
de Fault: "We failed on the platforms: nobody's banned us there. And we haven't actually been banned in any countries".
But some countries have declined to rate it, and in Germany the Steam page now says "currently unavailable in your region".
Provocation with a purpose
"We want to be nobly provocative"
"It's not provocation for the sake of being edgy; it's provocation with a purpose".
"It does give us some joy when there's evidence that we have stepped ever so slightly out of bounds".

@imgashina@AphroQiyana You don’t go to parties how tf would you know 😭 you’re genuinely upset at a singular music video from a band that only exists to sell skins
@Youngsensi1@PRlCESOAP@Door_Casts lol what’s better a team having two healers backline and a dogshit designed pre rework sombra tickling their team? or the new sombra turbo enabling a dive comp doing as much damage as a DPS while cutting your teams damage in half hmmmmmmmm
@ohwyrmm Walk with me here… where does blizzard, you know the ones that own the IP, operate? They are not the operator or publisher in China. Populations are a moot point here
@DmonUpdatesOW Where is it confirmed that anything other than the Shion skin is CN exclusive? It doesn’t seem to transform. Other bundles that include a transformation tier skin have still released in the US
