What fun, dare I ask? I can count with the fingers of one hand the times this fandom has been actually fun.

The fandom has never been fun (or safe) for poc players, for queer players, for players who portray their mcs as chubby, for artists who express in a certain way, or anyone who dares to speak for them all. There’s so much homophobia, racism, xenophobia, classism, internalized misogyny, so much fucking hatred all over the place—do you think all that is “fun”? There is always some fight going on all the time, is that fun? Tell me.

Turning a blind eye to all that is easy when you have the privilege of not getting affected by it.

Can’t you see that the boycott goes beyond Valko’s reinstatement? Can’t you see that you are getting cheated by a company who bleeds you dry and pays you dust? People are trivializing the boycott as a mere whim to bring back a character when in reality we are here fighting for our rights as consumers.

If we fail to make us be heard this one time with this one issue, chances are that none of our concerns as global players will ever be addressed—present or future. That is what this boycott is about. So, pardon me if I am “sucking the fun out of the fandom” right now while fighting for it to have a future.
