@UMich Vice Provost of Equity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Prof of Ed & Psych. Tweets/opinions=my own. Scholar for social equality. Shark fanatic.
@Prof_WCByrd @TimMcKayMI@NSF Thank you, Carson, for your leadership and colleagueship on this project. Looking forward to making impacts with this work!
We are big fans of @UMSpresents and have sponsored one of tonight's artists, @WendellPierce. Tune in this evening for some excellent live performances.
I support President Schlissel and Provost Collin’s statement. We will not let anything, including inane Executive Orders from Pres. Trump, keep us from our most important work.
A faculty senate meeting and voting process that is not fully accessible is NOT legitimate, favors privileged (No FULL accessibility=No Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) Do better SACUA. @UMichNCID @UMich@UMichDiversity
@rianaelyse@Spencer_Fdn @MaePrePhD @482Forward Big Congratulations! Keep making your mark and raising your voice. So glad you’re doing this important work.
After winning the inaugural award in 2017, Dr. James Jackson became the namesake of the @UMich James S. Jackson Distinguished Career Award for Diversity Scholarship. His scholarly contributions cannot be overstated. Rest In Peace and Power, Dr. Jackson.
It is with great sadness that I announce that James S. Jackson has passed. He was the Founder of the Program for Research on Black Americans. He was a mentor to numerous junior scholars who have become Deans, Department Chairs, Endowed Professors, and leaders in their fields.
"The irony is that faculty of color are leading the very efforts that are intended to retain them; hence, the support that these faculty receive from the university is dependent on their own abilities to sustain those efforts."
