#BetaPipol Yaoundé taxis are entering a historic turning point: From now on, owners and drivers will have to register in a digital database designed to better organize the sector, strengthen passenger safety, and modernize urban transport in the capital.

Today Friday, July 3rd 2026, the Mayor of Yaoundé; Luc Messi Atangana, officially launched the "Taxi-Yaoundé" digital platform and the digital identification program for taxi owners and drivers.

Developed by the Yaoundé Urban Community (CUY), with technical support from GIZ, this platform represents a major step forward in the digital transformation of the transportation sector. It will notably allow for the identification of taxis in operation, better regulation of professionals in the sector, and greater safety guarantees for passengers.

Digital registration is already open and will continue until October 5, 2026. The process is completely free. Registration can be done online on the dedicated platform or directly with the teams located at Yaoundé City Hall and in the various district town halls.

The Yaoundé Urban Community invites all taxi owners and drivers to participate massively in this initiative, presented as a decisive step towards more modern, safer, and better-organized urban mobility.

A new chapter is beginning for Yaoundé taxis, with the ambition of leveraging digital technology to enhance professionalism and build trust for all users.
